2017 NMA Off-Road Series Rd#7 TOASTED HARE SCRAMBLE

So for round #7 it was a multiple sanctioned event so that created some complications with the organizers and such that the NMA decided to include the event for those that wanted to attend but not required.  The NMA allowed a 3rd throwaway because of this.  However I did not know of this before making the trip to Bellingham and only found out after arriving.  Since I was there already, I was going to race, even though it was the most expensive race in the series because of the AMA membership required.

After round #6 I rebuilt the bike and installed a new head, reeds, skid plate, and linkage guard.  Of course I waited till the last minute to do the rebuild but I finished the bike up Friday night before the race weekend.  Nothing like waiting till the last minute.  Unfortunately after getting to the races my electric start completely quit on me.  Long story short I was without an electric start this race, but that was okay with me, it's just a nice to have feature anyways.

Conditions were hot and humid and very dusty.  The weekend consisted of 2 full days racing.  Short Course raced Saturday and all Long Courses raced on Sunday.  Hannegan Speedway offers another MX track as part of their course which had me fairly excited.  They also offered a strider kid race that my 2yr old daughter was able to participate in and enjoy... I think.

I got a terrible start and found myself about mid pack.  It was a pretty steady going race and was fortunately uneventful as far as break downs or crashing. After the first lap the heat hit me and I really plateaued on speed and just focused on riding smart.  I had a blast launching all the jumps on the MX track, all of which I over shot and came up short on.  In my opinion I thought the MX was very safe and fun.  My results weren't great but the competition was tough and the heat was harsh.  Overall I had a blast and look forward to returning for round #8 after the summer break.

It was fun to watch the national pro riders from the AMA's NHHA that were racing the West Kenda SRT Hare Scramble Championship.
