What was the powder coat colour code and how do you like the match? Greg

I love the 89's. Looks like a nice candidate for a resto mod buildup. Looking forward to your build. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy. Greg

I have been going through the same thing. I am restoring an 88' CR250 to be similar to what I raced back in the day. I had used Acerbis hand guards back then as well as Acerbis disk/fork guard. I did a lot of searching and can't find any NOS of that

I ended up picking up an old Dirt Bike magazine from ebay that has the 1994 Honda CRE260 and 1994 Honda CRM250 tests in it. The CRE is the early imported Italian bike before they had to be assembled in the states with pieces from Italy. Very cool bikes.

You sparked my interest in this again. I did some searching for some old Dirt Bike and Dirt Rider magazine articles. I found Dirt bike had articles in 94' and 96' I ordered some old copies of ebay and should have them in a week or ... more »

I was always fascinated with the CRE Honda's back in the day. I remember reading about them in Dirt Bike and Dirt Rider. I dug through my old magazines for info on them but it seems I did not keep them all and don't seem to have anything on them. Finding ... more »

Wow. Amazing bike. Those were probably some of the best looking bikes of that era. Greg

Looks like a worthy project. Some of these bikes just get hammered and left for dead. Nice to see them resurrected. Got to love stuff like a wooden caliper piston. Great bike. Keep us posted on the progress. Greg

The 1989 Cr250 would need the same All Balls 99-3540-5 bearings top and bottom for all the CRF forks right up to current as far as I can see. Greg

For your 1989 you will need two All Balls 99-3540-5 bearings. You are correct. They are the same top and bottom. I am swapping a 2001 CR 250R fork onto my 1988 and it uses the same bearings. Greg

Cool. Would love to see some more of those bikes. I love them all but always loved the Honda's of that era the most. Greg.

If you can't find a bearing, you can try here.http://shop.marksman-ind.com/99-3540-5-30x47x12-taper-roller-bearing-32906-15086-p.asp I spotted that in a search. Greg

Looks like you have a few projects there for sure. I love these bikes. All those Honda models from 86' to 96' are my favourites. I especially love the 88' to 91' 250s as that is what I raced when I was a young lad. I am building 2 88's right now then ... more »

If you need the Bottom Bearing you would need PN. 99-3510-5. I noticed that All Balls site shows the top bearing PN. 99-3540-5 out of stock. It does list the dimensions. Maybe you can find a bearing at a local bearing shop. Here are the dimensions. 99-3540-5 ... more »

I had a look again. Looks like it is the same bottom bearing as the 1991 and you just need the Top Bearing to fit those forks. PN. 99-3540-5. Wow. That bike looks like a basket case. My project CR250s are much the same. It is amazing how bad people run ... more »
