any body injured from moto like me?? 2

hi....im a women motocrosser...luv to ride!..been riding for 10 years....mainly tracks in southern CA....well...crashed on august 19th, 2011 at Milestone MX park....open femur fracture...head injury...broken shoulder and broken front tooth....I dont remember anything!!!!...just riding away with my friends for one last ride on the main track....after that it goes blank....guess i crashed doing a 30 foot gap jump...and then got hit by other riders....I now have a 7inch plate with 9 screws in my leg...and my shoulder had to be screwed back on....yay....now im recovering in a wheel chair....and its rough!!! Im very depressed....and im hoping to talk to other injured riders who feel my pain and frustration....I went from an incredibly active fitness women to a sedentary disabled person in a wheelchair...

Hey "Motochick27"...Just joined the VitalMX scene and noted your post. From someone who has raced every season since 1973, yes...1973, you can imagine I've seen my share "down time." RacerSteve made a great point about listening to those "supposedly" and I hope those in charge of your repair are indeed competent enough to get you down the road and hopefully, if you choose, back in the saddle. If you've progressed as far as you have to get into the situation that created the mayhem of the crash,my guess you'll be back at...WHEN YOU FEEL IT'S RIGHT. But, instead of hitting the track scene to regain your skills through confidence and speed, hit the trails with some friends and have a good time. Use THAT time to UNDERSTAND your PRESENT abilities and listen to both your body and mind. You'll be scared and indeed you should be. But, getting familiar with your 2-wheel environment again, having fun and building confidence will have you forgetting what happened and back on the track soon enough.Take it from someone who as returned from FOUR motocross inflicted surgeries, won my class at the amateur nationals 3 times,,,LONG before Loretta's existed...and almost qualified twice in 08 and 11. In the interim, plan your recovery in your mind on how you BELIEVE it will relate to your time on two wheels. Think about the muscles that must be re-trained and think about what YOU BELIEVE what will be required to circumvent what damage might be considered permanent. Don't like the answers your present medical experts are giving you and believe that you should be returning what you love to do, get back to me or seek out professional sports medicine folks who have seen your demise in one form or another. In the end,believe in yourself for it's "yourself" who must make the decision of giving up something you love. (Regardless of your passion) For, if you "give it up" on the mere opinion of others and not sound and professional advice and the yearning keeps eating at you today, that very same yearning will begin burning every-time there's even a hint of ANYTHING that has SOMETHING to do...with anything with two wheels in the dirt! Hey, hang in there! You're tough, or you wouldn't have been riding for ten years. Remember Villopoto--femur FX, Canard-femur FX. Both came back. Your friends can tell you what you can't remember about the crash, I bet it was spectacular! Don't let it get you down. Listen to your doc, and therapist. Work hard to get back what you can.
