It's been a bit since we'd seen some new goggles from Scott, and they dropped a new model on us at Scott Week at Deer Valley resort in Park City, Utah. What's Scott Week? It's a mix of a cycling dealer event, and a chance for us to drop in to see the latest goods.
So what's new about the Prospect goggle? Well...to put it mildly, everything.
Frame
The frame is all-new, and offers a wider field of view than before. It's also an outrigger-style goggle, but the arms articulate, to work with different helmets, and to make for easy installation of their new ultra-wide 50mm film system. That's a boost from a 1-1/4 inches to two inches. There are also locking four points around the frame where the new lens lock system pushes a post through a slot in the lens. That makes it pretty much impossible for the lens to get blasted out by roost. That's big.
Lens
The lens is now thicker at 1mm. (The previous standard was .8mm.) The Prospects come with a mirrored lens, as well as a clear lens. Why are there four posts on the lens? They are mounting points for both the tear-offs, and for the tool-free film system.
Strap
The strap is silicone-backed, and at 50mm is even wider than in the past.
Foam
The foam is a thermoformed NoSweat 3.2 design.
Extras
There's a microfiber bag, as well as a removable noseguard.
Cost
$89.00
Colors
There are eight color combos available.
Availability
Production starts this week.
Oh, and they're made in the U.S.A.
