2014 YZ 450

anybody got any info on this... this is what i heard... 2014 YZ 450 coming out in May the motor is getting turned back around with true duals, 2 exhaust ports with 2 headers going to the mufflers. no rear linkage and no spring in the forks and all valving is to be controlled electronically. bike will have several different settings of traction control w/ on the fly adjustment and will weigh 218 pounds. motor could be 375 cc to 449cc they are still testing. any truth to any of this?

No linkage, I would love to see that, EVERYONE had a melt down when KTM was no linkage. Personally for offroad riding I have not noticed the advantages of linkage, I have noticed the bike rides lower and I catch my pegs in ruts more.

Cool rumour though, lots of cool stuff mentioned, and at 218 pounds that would be a unreal bike

IMO - Why can't Yamaha just make a regular bike? I realize Yamaha has to be Yamaha, meaning that they are always trying something crazy. But why reinvent the wheel? Was the 09 YZ that bad? So the front end pushed a little, but at least it was a viable weapon with a little tweaking. The present YZ could possibly be made into one, but cut the BS and improve the power, handling, and weight instead of touting miracle groundbreaking power, handling, and whatever.

They will probably come out with just BNG.

The no link and air forks is just damn funny. You can't make that kind of stuff up so it has to be true.

True duals and two pounds under the minimum weight limit? Is that with a full tank like the mfgs. currently list weights? If so, sign me up!LaughingSillyCheerful

u can buy the kit or a complete trike..all u need is a honda 450 quad and some crf 450 forks...

i cant even imagine how dangerous that thing is..i have an atc 70 and 110 and those are sketchy enough..fun for driveway flattracking though

So they're going to ADD another full exhaust, take OUT the fork springs and linkage, and LOSE 25 lbs by doing so. Huh. That's definitely some ground breaking design work there. Didn't the linkless Pumpkins weigh around 220 and those were TWO STROKES? That difference in weight is almost as much as the pile of shit someone wants us to believe. Or wait. Maybe the new PIANO is a two stroke. Hallefreakinlujah, the Japs have finally seen the light. Wonder how the AMA feels about this? Or, who really gives a fuck what they think? I mean, BESIDES the AMA.

Seems the OEM's and race teams are trying to put more black or white plastic into their traditional colourways......wonder what the motivation behind this is?

My local dealer told me they've heard nothing from Yamaha about an early release 450. Yamaha will have to start incentivizing dealers soon to get the right number of units out in order to race the Nationals.

I bought one of the first 2010 YZF450's I could get my hands on back then and the dealer wanted to get ride of his 1 unit allocation so quickly he sold it to me at cost. Can't imagine many dealers will be thrilled at having another bike forced on them after the dud the current bike turned out to be.
