Good to know. Anything I can do to help mitigate that short of switching the entire front end over to a newer RM/RMZ?

Get a recommendation on the proper rate fork springs for your weight. Drop the forks as far as possible in the clamps. Run a lot of sag in the rear (105+ maybe). These bikes were notorious for headshake and being unstable at speed on a MX track. I believe Alberteen rode for Suzuki those years and remember watching him headshake and swap from one side of the track to the other at Glen Helen (and this was a factory Suzuki), for the entire 2 motos. While evey other bike looked stable and tracked straight. Good luck!

It's not necessarily the forks, but the frame geometry Suzuki was using at that time. 2004-on were/are really good bikes, but still much busier than a Honda (but the Honda's still turned well, without the busy feel)

What mxracer666 said. To add to that, in 2004 Suzuki changed the offset to 22.5 from 24.5. If you can find a set of 2001-2003 triple clamps, and run a little bit more sag, I think you'll be surprised at the improvement, at least I was. Even with these changes the RM still turns as good if not better than any bike I've ridden. Good luck

Have owned a few RM 2t's dating back to an 84 RM125 with the newest ones being a couple 06 RM250's. The 04+ models are still very unstable in comparison to the CR or YZ. Here is the latest one I own. Contemplating putting an aftermarket link to see if it helps with the busy chassis geometry.

H4L : That's a nice looking RC replica! A linkage arm is a big help on these Suzuki's, and you will lose very little of the turning sharpness. Well-worth the money! Still a busy bike tho...

Yep. Owned another 06 model about 10 yrs. ago that put me on the ground a few times even after having some RG3 suspension work done. I'm not expecting it to be stable like the CR chassis, but looking for something that's ride-able at a moderate speed. Thnxz..

I gave up on mine. Never got hurt on a bike as much as my 06 lol. Great looking and sounding bike, but Jesus is that chassis unstable

Does a 1997 250 count?

For post vintage racing have an RM250 and feel it's one of the best bikes for post vintage due primarily to the fantastic rear suspension.  Have gold valves front and rear on this bike and suspension feels great, especially considering the bike is 38 years old.  Do not care for the stock seat that is tall in the back and low in the middle so I put a flatter fat seat on it to make it easier to slide back and forth on the bike in corners. The bike is a 1985 but since the 1985 had a front disc brake, I put an 84 front end on it so that a drum brake could be used which makes it post vintage legal.  Bike runs great...had 13 holeshots in a row over the course of two seasons.

No 250's, but two 2003 125's...

Sadly sold my 05 a couple years ago for the same reason as Pastrana.... Parts availability. I owned several and would probably have a new one in my garage if Suzuki still offered them to us. The bike would be a money maker for Suzuki, but apparently someone in Japan eats Dingleberry cereal with bull milk for breakfast.

Does it count if I want to own an RM250? If not, all we have is an 05' RM125.
