Andy was sentenced last week, he gets four years in the slammer. Rusty Ott gets 13 1/2 years. Both have to report for orange jumpsuits in January. I saw something in the Suntimes last week.

Weird how someone can get 13.5yrs for money scams......but rapists , attempted murders and child molesters get about 1/2 that time. Not saying what Rusty did was cool at all.....just that our laws are extremely flawed.

State offenses vs Federal offenses. They have way more Federal jail space then the states do.

The charges are very serious. From what is alleged, they had a big operation going. I understand what they are accused of doing. But with that kind of money involved, and several banks, I would think the whole scheme would need to keep growing for them to continue it without eventually getting caught. They got the money, spending it, investing it, and living good, but what is the exit plan? How would some one doing this expect to enjoy the benefits for the rest of their lives? As I said, to get off clean, and go along your merry way, there had to be an exit plan. If there's a banker or accountant out there that can give some input, i would appreciate it. It seems like there is no way for any one to do this and expect to live happily ever after.
Exit plan:
1. off shore bank accounts. Or cash hidden in safes somewhere.....
2. Plea deal
3. Do 5-10 years after plea deal.
4. Get out and you have a real nice cash retirement to live off. Not a bad gig. 5-10 years served to be out and you keep the cash and offshore accounts that you claim not to have.

Well shit 13.5 years. 3 squares a day and all the time in the world to get to be a better scammer.

Not a bad exit strategy. That asshole probably has people's money hidden all over the world. He will be back to his ways when he gets out. Loving life in the Caribbean.

Going to a federal "institute" is like going to a 3 star island resort for most I hear. Not a bad gig at all. Pretty much 20 years at his job" and retire a millionaire.

11.4 years. 11% of a human life. Most of us work our Ass off 40% of our lives to retire. Then the market crashes and force us to work another 10-15 until it recovers. So he got a great Deal if he's got cash hidden.

Having known a few of the Fed's 'guests' over the years, I don't think it's as 'cushy' as many people think it is. It's pretty harsh.

Not to pry, but can you elaborate what their crime was (or at least a hint)?

I don't know how to make this sound anything but like I hang out with a bunch of crooks. Disclaimer: I've just crossed paths, either socially or in work settings with these guys. IOW, on a level where we would recognize each other and probably exchange "What's up? How have you been?" if we bump into each other, but we aren't close.

One for drug dealing - Seagoville
One for mail fraud - Ft. Worth
One for investor fraud - Don't know where
One for a front-page white collar crime - New York

Go to Leavenworth and throw that theory around. Your asshole would be ripped to your cheek in a week.

And Fed time you gotta do a large portion of it... 85% springs to mind.

I lived across the road from a federal pen for 20+ years. They have a miniature golf course and horseshoe pits next to the football field and basket ball courts. They don't call it Club Fedfor no reason.

I think you guys are underestimating the psychological stress of having your personal freedom 100% eliminated. You are nothing but a piece of meat, worthless to humanity.

Do the crime and do the time.......They will not enjoy themselves in the slammer, and since the feds are not stupid they probably had to give up the money to make the deal. Bad business all around !!!

Thats so cute that you think that, not at all true, but cute none the less.

In reality, not much difference between the two.

This reminds me of the financial crisis in the US, when all those executives went to prison. ('Cept nobody ever did). Too big to jail.

My first "real" job was with Case Capital for Case New Holland tractor dealerships. Without notice I'd show up at Case or New Holland dealerships to audit them for a few days. Never saw a nightmare like that one--but it's not hard to do with cooperation of all parties. I can't imagine what I'd do if some dealer offered me $20K or something to be blind on an audit. At my age now--I'd like to think I'd turn him in. But that's why I rarely got personal with them. Credit ratings for dealers is make or break. These twits got too greedy and kept dipping in the honey pot. Fuck em.

Worked at pro source in Tecumseh, had John take out a loan on a Suzuki credit card in my name. He maxed it out. I found out and got him to pay it off , after about a month of hounding him. Such a shady guy.

i used to be a motorcycle dealer, and before 08 when things were pumping it would have easy to fool the floor plan rep if you wanted to, the person would be doing bikes one day, cars the next, then tractors, after a number of shops went down owing a heap, they got better at checking stuff,

the stories i have heard of dealers going to extreme lengths to keep cars and bikes getting checked off so they dont have to pay for them are pretty amazing, but as said earlier in this thread, its impossible to keep going forever,
