I'm still on my 1st set of 661 Flight boots. Now, lots of you guys ride more than I do, but I'm very pleased with the feel and longevity of these ones. Very comparable to my old-school Sinisalo SCD boots from back in the day (OP can probably remember those.) Plus, they're stil out there for about $200 a pair. Hard to beat.

To the guys saying tcx comp evo boots are flexible and the most comfortable are crazy, or they haven't worn another boot any time lately.
I bought a pair because I wanted to test the Michelin sole, the sole is fairly durable, but the plastic has split near the arch of the foot, which is all plastic, and I don't see any way of repair after only 4 months of use.
The boot is very supportive which I like, but it is heavy and not very flexible at all, this is not a complaint, I like the support.
But my tech 7's are a lot more comfortable and lighter. I normally race in my comp evo's, but was having a slight problem with my knee, so I raced in my tech 7's on the weekend because they feel lighter and tend to not get hung up in ruts, as they are less bulky.
For me it's the tech 7's for comfort and easier shifting, and comp evo for support.

Note. It did take me a few rides to get good shifts with the comp evo. But I've never had a problem with the tech 7's.

Gaerne GX-1 here too for old skool flexibility and lightness.


I have broken in SG12s at home too, but no way can you say they have the same feel and flexibility of the GX-1. Amazing boots but feel like lead weights on the end of my legs in comparison to the GX1!!

You're going to get a variation of Sidi's, alpinestars, Gaerne's, Fox, etc. Most of the big name boot companies make a top tier fantastic boot. As you will find here, it's all about preference. I love the fit and comfort of the SG-12's.

Personally I prefer the original Sidi Crossfires (replaceable sole). They are thin enough in the sole/toe area to give excellent feel while still giving good protection.

I recently purchased a pair of Sidi Crossfire 2's. Not the same feel (thicker sole & toe area) but possibly better protection.

I still wear the Crossfires in the race & use the CF 2's in practice.

I have no experience with the Crossfire 3's. May be there a blend of both. I doubt it though.

Tech 3 .. or the old Red and Yellow Sidi's. All the big dollar boots seem to be overkill IMO

The instincts meet the criteria you've listed better than any other boot. I run the instinct off-road. Many people look past this model it seems. It's the regular instinct but had more toe protection and a better sole. They hit a home run for Moto with the Offroad version.

I've worn them for 4-5 hours riding every weekend for the last ten months or so and haven't had any issues with the plastic splitting.

No issue with mine either been using them since December. Bought them to upgrade my TCX 2.1 best boots I've used can't fault them

These feel like hiking boots.
I like to feel the ground when I ride.

I have. To me, it seemed like I lifted the entire leg and foot with the Tech 10's to up shift but with the Fox boots I could still have pressure on the foot peg when clicking up gears.

Sorry to hear you had bad luck with the tcx..

Ive had the tech7s and tech 10s with the boot liner before. Felt just as heavy, I have 30 hours on my tcx comp Evo boots that I got in may.

I feel way more comfortable in the tcx boots that I ever did wearing the alpinestars. I find the tcx close in comfort and durability as the sg 12s.

To each their own. I guess.
