Hey guys, anyone from Europe try the new WP airforks?

Has anyone from US tried to get them or heard cost?

There is spring conversion kit from WP. Other than that people who got KTM 16 models say new forks are great
and nothing to compare old models.

I have been riding 16 350 with aer forks for 11 hours now. Coming from 15 crf450r, wp forks are night and day better than kyb psf2. Very plush, front end doesn't do anything weird. I got it work well with just messing with clickers, going to maybe revalve them later. I havent tried yamaha sss forks so can't compare between the two but i think wp is pretty close to sss with this New airfork.

I'd be curious to know the cost as well.

The air fork should be less. Was pondering 16 350, but may just hold out til 17 just to get that fork!

My buddy is having the same thought and it is making him a little mad.

I wonder why KTM didn't just role the air fork out? Must have had some excess stock!

These forks with the spring option is smart move. Removes any fear of purchasing a bike with air forks. KTM/WP innovation is exciting, hopefully in 2020 I can buy someones 2017 threefiddy!

Joe,
If the air forks were the way to go, KTM would have them on their bikes here in the states. Short has been their guinea pig for the air forks and shock, but the CV / Trax spring suspension is what everyone else is running. If there was ANY advantage with the Air, there would be more guys at least testing with them.

Sack up and call Billy @ Powerband Racing, he will do you right on a set of CV forks and shock, (once they release them)

Picked up my new 16 250sxf a couple of days ago.
The air forks is a massive improvement! Smooth travel and very easy to get dialed in. Same with the shock. All around the suspension is good.
I may have a coloured opinion - i find something I like and stay with it.

I have heard of guys in the US testing them and one test rider said he was very impressed, actually compaired the action to the cone valve feel. We will see what the cost comes to then make the choice from there.

Ktm USA should offer a "trade in" of sorts for new 16' purchasers with 4cs. This could be why 16' production is so low as well.

I would rather go WP Cone Valves at same price. They are one of best ones i have ever run and they been 2 years in my KTM 125sx. If AER comes with bike just ride them.

go with the A kit.... I cant see why this is a hard decision, or keep what ya got and get a 17, no way would I buy stock, unproven air forks over the wp A kit, the A kit is INSANLEY good!

For sure, I've tested cone valve forks on my bike and not questioning them at all. Amazing.

Just digging into feedback and cost of these Aer48's... If they were $1700-$1999 it would be a different story.

@carlino joe, I agree with ya on paying ard $1700, thats reasonable, and im sure eventually they will b really good, but like langhammx said, get them from billy at powerband, again thank us later lol, I thought my ohlins with mx tech huckvalves where thr plushest/ best bottoming resistance but the wp A kit is much better!

This whole 4cs in 16/air fork in 17 issue is really bumming me out. Why would they release a brand new bike and not add the air forks in the U.S.? I have a 16 on order but I don't want to spend 2700 on forks after buying the bike if a "superior" fork is coming out next summer. The Kawi is looking better and better. Such a bummer because I really want the KTM but I can't buy a bike knowing that it's major flaw is addressed next year and will save me $2700.

With all of this debate going back and forth, it made me think. Has anyone seen confirmation that the U.S. 17 is coming with the air fork? I know it makes total sense that it will but it also would have made sense to ship the 16's with it unless there is a reason or plan we are unaware of. Just wondering.

Another wrench in the motor is, why didn't the Huskys come with air forks? I thought that was going to be their game plan...

As mentioned in a different thread, I to have a 16 350 on order and am struggling hard with the 4cs debate. Im at the point that I convinced myself to try and buy the best 15 450 I can find right now and wait for the 17 w air forks to arrive. Of course that thought could all change if I fall in love with something/or the 17 honda 450 is "the bike" next yr. Also, was I heard that the reason for 16 ktm stateside arrivals is due to frame production not being ready. Anyone else heard this?

I'm with you. If I knew the spring forks were here to stay, I would pop for the A kit cone valve stuff but I don't want to do that knowing the bike will be 2.5-3 pounds lighter next year and might not even need the cone valves.

I don't understand all the talk of I was going to get the 16 but now I will get a 15 even though it's not what I want so I can really take a loss on it when I sell it to get the 17 ? I have a dinosaur 15 with these crappy 4cs forks and I go out and race all the time so far so good .

I never said anything about a 15. For me it's a 16 KTM or a 16 KX. Which ever one I choose, I'm riding for a few years which is why I'm laboring over this decision.

Im talking about a 15 honda, which I could buy for dirt cheap right now here locally-most definitely be able to at least get my money back on return. To each his own I guess, just very dissapointed w the fact the US versions got the 4cs. Im in limbo right now and weighing out my options. Im sure I can get the 4cs to be alright just a punch to the gut knowing everyone thus far is raving about the air forks

I'm sold on the new 125/150 but I am thinking I'll hold off until 2017 and get one that's EVEN lighter and possibly better performance out of the fork, hell yes.

It's smart business. They'll sell a ton of 16's because they're all new. Next year minor simple changes and air fork and they'll sell a ton of them too. 18, air shock. 19, orange frame. 20, all new.

Maybe they could have given you the air fork this year, but they're in business to sell motorcycles and make money, this is a better plan. 2017 is already an easy lay-up.
