Might there be a thing or 2 learned from KTM's MotoGP and Moto3 efforts (millions)?

Definitely hope they make it thinner at the radiator area...angle those rads like a KXF. Simple. More front end feel would be nice as well.

I'm always worried when KTM changes plastics, sometimes they are pretty "new wave". I like what they did with the Husky, getting rid of all the holes for mounting points. It would be hard to make the front fender worse in style.

What would you hope for in a newer engine, frame and swingarm?

I'd expect the engine to get dual injection with an injector on the lower part of the throttle body, maybe even with an elliptical barrel (genius copy) and tuning from wifi. You could see a 4-spd for weight savings (I'd hope you could put a 6-spd in it for XC) and maybe separate chambers for engine and trans oil that hold more capacity( if you add weight make it count). Longer headpipe and tuned for more low end. Direct injection would be a long shot due to cost, but much more practical on a 4t than a 2t. A smaller clutch with more plates (Rekluse copy) and steel basket could add flywheel effect and traction.

KTM clutch baskets have been steel for a good number of year.

I'm also referring to a more compact, with more plates (a la Rekluse radiusX) reducing size and weight in a clutch.

I think a long headpipe like Herling's runs is a done deal for the low end power.

I just order cone valves for my 17 so i hope they will still fit. Also i wonder if the current trax shock will fit or not.

Perhaps a "layman's version" with less costly treatments will utilize cone valve and trax technology in the new bike?

Suzuki and Honda now have production versions of works suspension technology, KTM could follow.

I'm really looking forward to this new bike. KTM are taking leaps and bounds in R&D.

Look at the 85's for example...

Obviously one's naked and the other in in the bike. But you get the jist

We need to throw more darts on this subject. If you throw enough you will eventually hit a bullseye!

How about lightweight seats? Why do riders sit on the rear fender so much? Maybe we don't need seats at allWink

Didn't KTM show the current gen bike at 2014 EICMA? Could we expect to see the next gen bike at 2017 EICMA?

There will not be 2018.5 250 FE, but Husky is getting a 450 FE.

I could see the top end being made ala TM and Honda with the throttle body way up high in the frame at an angle to get a straighter shot into the intake valves. That would mean re-arranging the airbox, maybe even the top shock mount.

If you are stamping 6lbs AER isn't going away.
Cant see them dropping the AER as long as it gets the reviews it gets. WP also released last year Cone Valve AER. If Husky was smart, they would go for spring fork. The question is just what fork should they run?

The CC fork is outdated and has not been used since 2015. Enduro forks has poor reviews. 4CS is dead and cant go back.

If they had a good option on the table it was easier. However, doing a production version of Cone Valve would most likely kill the very very quickly increasing sales of Cone Valve @ a premium price. Dilemma, yes.

Actually enduro forks are pretty good as they did go back to old version and quit 4CS.

Selling bikes is what KTM/Husky do.. as Cone Valves are from WP that sells suspension/frames/parts to many different companies. AER48 is good and cheap for KTM, not sure how much more will cost Basic version of CV spring forks without coatings. New SX bikes coming even lighter and alot new stuff I dont see they going away from AER48 forks as they are now fine tuned.

I really think that going with a CV fork without coatings for the bikes would be a big mistake. Like you mention, it would hit the sale of CV forks big time. But i would love it as a consumer.

The AER is a really good stock fork and it will probably only get better with time and development.

I think SoCal locals with a sharp eye that ride during the week might be able to spot some new hardware.

The bike is disguised in old bodywork. This one will be much harder to spot then previous models based off design cues from the last model to this one. Most of what's been suggested in here isn't accurate.

I dislike click bait, especially in the forum.

However, that GIF I approve of, that's one of my favorite anime shows.

ML, Cant you try and reprimand this kind of shit? when you have 10 threads going on that you "listen" to, half of the posts are pure bs. Some of the topics as well like "have you heard latest about js7 - oh i have not but wanted someone to click on it"

Lower the quality of the forum.

You might want to lighten up a little bit. We try to have a little fun around here too. This link clearly described itself before anyone clicked it. It is in fact a 1st day release, new engine , frame and plastics, and I really thought the dual exhaust would be funny since it has been joked about so much in the past.

Click bait by definition is usually misleading or blind in nature. It's not really bait when you know what you are going to get.

The real money question is knowing what you know and have seen if YOU owned a '17 or '18 would you be looking to upgrade?
