Picked up a 78 YZ last weekend and want to trick it out as mine should have been back when I was a wee heathen. Interested in any aftermarket heads, shocks, aluminum rims, swing arms, pipes, DG tall seat kit, MINI BETOR front forks...yes I shouted that so everyone could hear. Clue me in please. Cash or possibly trick early CR125 bits to trade.

Other than the SuperCrapp power reducer on the pipe, it looks like a pretty well preserved original.

Mini Betors. I sold a complete set with clamps at a swap meet 20 years ago for $75 to Horvat. I had no clue what they were at the time. He still gloats about that.

THIS is gonna be good...
Good? Or expensive? Lol

The 78 YZ80 was a piece of shit with a frame made from peanut brittle. Must go grab the gusset kit off eBay now.

My local Yamaha dealer had a few of those frame gusseting kits the last time I looked in their obsolete inventory.
He'd probably pay me to take them off his hands.

Look in your email Joe, I sent you a PIC of a NOS Mototek ignition for the 1978 YZ 80E.

Xmas just might have come a little early at the Newman House.

That E is in great condition.
There was a DG swingarm that came up in Oct this year for the E.. Would of been great on the bike, but i saw it too late to notify you... Just noticed it on Ozforum so i thought i would post up a pic..\

That's a great looking piece
I like how you fabbed the mounting bracket
Some silencers made for old bikes are sweet, but they look almost overbuilt
That one looks like it belongs there

Thank you sir! No one else bid on it so got it for the starting price with free shipping. Not too bad, I think I can make it look quite usable with a little stripping, welding, sanding, anodizing.....Smile Already have a NOS Luft remote reservoir shock for it so the Fox will go in the parts bin with the others similar to it.

Look forward to seeing it after. I stopped buying parts that need a bike built around them, gets pricey.

Have you called DC direct and asked them to do them in the opaque? Try it, you'll most likely be pleasantly surprised. Those guys have done quite a few projects for me over the years. I still wish they would dump the dull textured plastics and go with the slick shiny stuff.
