I saw that last night as well, and spent a considerable amount of time drooling over it......never had any gas? That would be quite the purchase!!

My '83 RM125 is in similar condition. Anyone that wants to pay me $3,400 for it can consider it sold.

Saw that one Sunday, thought it was a little odd that it was sun damaged on the fenders? They let a brand new bike sit outside long enough that the sun damaged the plastic? I would have thought it was in a crate or at least indoors, not sitting outside.

And the overseas shipping is an expensive pain in the ass. But the '81 RM125 was an iconic machine for that era, so having a brand new one 30 years later is a pretty cool opportunity.

Maybe the bikes that went to the Japanese market were different than the US version but the tank and side panel graphics are all wrong for an 81. The stripes should be more parallel to the ground, "SUZUKI" should be written within the tank stripes in white letters, 125 is in the wrong place, etc. It is an 81 cylinder for sure though.
My 81 still has all of the OEM plastic and the fade to them is almost identical to that bike. Mine is a racer now but was out of the sun for 17 years and the fenders and number plates are faded. The tank still looks great though. I have just assumed that the materials were different in the tank.

Ty, I believe the Euro model RM's in 1981 got those slanted stripes.

Looks like it was looped out at some point. That would explain why the seat is all messed up, the rear fender is at a goofy angle, and the throttle tube is broken in half. Really clean bike overall, though!

Thanks Cam, I am sure you right, I just never really researched it. I just know what the 81 & 82 US versions look like. BTW, this is the bike that I bought the jersey from you a year ago, to match.

I know the '81 X was a strong running 125, but it must be phenominal to develop enough power to "loop it", with no fuel ever having seen the inside of the tank.

Wonder how much surface rust is built up on the cylinder bore?

Right on. I hope you found some matching pants that work with the jersey. I tried to find some Kent Howerton style pants with yellow in front and blue in back, like his early 80's JT Suzuki pants but came up empty. I loved his gear back then.

There's no way that bike has never had gas in it. It's a really nice example of an '81, but come on.

Anyone else catch the dirt caked in the rear axle nut? I'd say it was ridden at least once.

Look at the jam nut and bolt on the rear brake lever. Some type of tamper seal?

I agree with all here but did not an to be too hard on the people; pretty nice bike but not as advertised. I know I would not trade mine for it and mine has some hard motos on it.

CamP, I agree on the old Kent H. gear and I am still looking for the pants. When I find them in a 32 -33, I am going to get Newmann to buy them for me.

I'm not going shopping with you for jeans, that's where I draw the line. The red wig was bad enough.....LOL.

And no, the bike never did have gas in it. But it did wash up on the beach after a tsunami.Wink

Nice pants Jeff, thanks for sharing.
Newmann, I guess a Christmas card would be out of the question too?

I have a 1981 Suzuki rm 125 for sale. Bike was stored for about 30 years. Has new tires and tubes, new rear brake cable, seat recovered, and runs like a bat out of hell when it hits the power band. This bike is all stock with dg exhaust. This is one of the last one remaining in the country. First year of mono suspension and liquid cooling. The bike is still stored indoors. If someone is interested you can email me at Nico06r6@yahoo.com. Serious offers only. I have offers on this right now but people who know how rare this is then you know that there are not many left in the country. Plastics are still original. Contact me if interested, the bike is close to Chicago, Il
