This needs to be revisited.
I raced against Mark at Knobby Hills back when it was Tri County, have a few 2nd place trophies. He would overall jr. and sr. mini when we all lined up together. My dad Jerry Bennett won the senior class alot in 76'-78' around central indiana. we raced at winchester, muncie motocross, brandywine mostly. It was great fun back then, the bikes got better by leaps and bounds every year. Does anybody remember Dale Sanders, he had 2 brothers, Gale, and Jeff, they were all fast , back around 72'-78'.

I used to go to Lorrettas every summer, to watch ., before i went in the us navy in 87 ,, from 83 to 87 went every yr.after i got out in 1991 i go almost every yr.now.

But i remember the Melton brothers, in 1984 Mark won the 125 B stk, then in 1985, he won the 125 A mod.
i think he got hurt at Lorrettas in 86, but his brother Brett won the 85 stk 7-11 class that yr.

I still a have mag. in the attic where Mark won one of the 250A classes at Ponca City in 87'. He was in the top 5 in 2 or 3 different classes,
It was Mark, Jeff Matiasevich, Mike Kiedrowski, Jeff Stanton and a few other future big names in the top 5 of all the big
classes.

I quit racing in 79' to concentrate on football, baseball , girls etc. Then raced from 83'-85', if anyone remembers the only
Maico racing in central Indiana, kenworthy in Ohio up to 85", that was me. Quit again to move to Florida.

The good old days were alot more fun but i still love it now,and will always be a fan of dirt bike racing of any sort.
I now have a 72' 400 maico, and a 09' ktm 300 xc.

I don't recall the year, but it must have been around 92 at Loretta's Fosnock finished podium in one of the classes. No gloves, mis-matched gear and blazing fast!

The "Flame" race wear guys were there vending and set him up. He looked good, went fast and I never saw him again...

Cool memories, and a great thread.
