Can I just change the cylinder or do I need the 150 crank as well?

I did some checking and the 125 bore and stroke is 54 mm x 54.5 mm vs the 150 is 56 mm x 58.4 mm. So I'm probably just gonna hold out until this thing needs a crank and just do the 200 crank and cylinder. It cost the same amount of money. I think a 200sx would be the ultimate 2 stroke.

In the new MXA they give a breakdown of shared parts between the SX125 and SX150 and I really thought it was a very short list of differences......................

You're right, when 2016 models are concerned. The pre-2016 models do not share the same stroke, both it and the bore differ.

Yeah I been doing some reading on all of them. This is why I have decided when the time come to just do the 200 swap. I honestly don't have much tied up in the bike at all so I don't mind putting some money in it to make it even sweeter.

Are you going to use the XC-W cylinder and ignition? I know those 200SX parts are tough to find.

I think you can still get the 200sx cylinder from Ktm. If not I can go with the xc-w and just get it ported. Either way xc-w will still have more power than a 150. Still should be a really good motor.

I had a 200XC and it was a dog. There was a reason that it was a woods bike, and it had no business on the MX track. It had ZERO top end..... but with your MX crank and flywheel/porting maybe it'll be better

I think SX model different exhaust valve spring makes a big difference too in engine character
