New TC250 is on it's way, super excited obviously! I've been doing some research on what to do for go-fast goodies. Here's what I've found so far:

Standard Stuff:
- Suspension revalve
- Set squish
- Pipe/silencer
- Vforce reeds

Husky/KTM Specific:
- 38mm carb and/or Dick's Racing taper bore & intelajet
- Husky airbox - drill for better breathing
- longer Pro Circuit link (not sure this applies for 2015s?)
- 300 kit :D just 'cause

I'm less concerned with bling and more looking for performance gains. Anyone have any suggestions for what I've missed? Thanks!

I think the new 15's got a longer link, so the PC link is no longer needed.

The Boyesen reeds are not the standard ones that Boyesen sells. KTM and Husky had them create their own spec reeds. That being said I think the Vforce4 Reed system is better, if anything just better longevity wise.

Suspension is better with the 4cs, but some still want/need to get that harshness out of the fork.

Sounds like you got the majority of stuff figured out.

Not just any pipe/silencer either. IMO I'd go with regular length silencer, not a short (and PC or Bills setup)

I just got a 15 sx 250 as well and my question would be in how to I go about broadening the power like the Yamaha's? whats the best Pipe/Silcer combo? also what should I do as far as jetting?

Thanks in advance!

Just me but I would likely add a FWW for smoother power, Smoother is faster. But as you said suspension and seat time are going to be your biggest gain's. Also the X is an easy gain. get your jetting sorted too. Have fun with that bad ass ride!!

This is what I was getting at, my PC pipe/silencer helped and also the jetting changes. I am near sea level and went with a 172 main jet and suzuki needle that was brought up by Digger29 long ago. Runs very strong and crisp.

My 250sx felt like it signed off really early compared to my old yz and this helped it rev out. I now have a 38mm carb that I just put on as well and am excited to try.

I've got a 38mm carb and VForce4 on the way and hope that it gives that extra rpm that it seems to be missing. Are you also gonna run the VForce4?

Ya, my sx is a 2013 so it came with Vforce 4 but I am now putting on the 38mm carb and a new non-OEM Vforce4 reed cage.

Start by ordering a V-force 4 reed assembly. Set your deck height. Set your powervalve dimension correctly. Get a carb off a 125/150 38mm. DO NOT oval bore it or intelajet it. You're going to order a NECJ needle from a 2008 rm250. with a 175 main 42 Pilot and the clip in the 4th position from the top. You're going to run the stock 6.5 slide, and turn your air screw out 2 turns! Put the red powervalve spring in, some people like it turned in, I like to run it flush. Bills offers the best all around power for a pipe and silencer combo, obviously shorty for quick revving power, longer for faster straighter tracks. Dial in your suspension, get the ktm phds anti vibe bar mounts so your arms don't fall off, take it to the track and hold her wideeeee!! have fun on that thing you're going to love it!!

I'm assuming the 170+ main is for the 38 carb.

Why is everyone going to the 38 carb?

I feel like I'm missing out on something.

Running the 38mm carb allows the bike to rev out quite a bit further without signing off so early. You do trade a little bottom end by doing so, but the bike has plenty to give. You can get it back by using a V-Force 4. It IS an improvement over what comes stock. A 36mm carb is great for bottom end and throttle response, but what you gain by putting a 38mm carb on is beyond impressive. It really is the set up.

And a tip...if you know someone that rides a 125 in the woods, see if they'll swap carbs. The 36 works better for those guys (for the same reason...throttle response and bottom end).

The jetting spec though will work on a 36mm or a 38mm carb.

And if you really want to wake the motor up, the guy who does my motors (and I believe Rocketsocks) does some fantastic work. The guys a wizard with the KTM motors and the insides of them look like works of art. Let me know if you want some contact info!

When i switched to the NECJ suzuki needle it made a huge difference, if you want clean roll on power.
Not sure if you are new to two strokes, but setting the powervalve to your liking can do wonders.
Set the air screw to the temp/humidity every time you ride it.
People complaining about the ktm spec rad valve, i have 80hrs on mine and they seem fine and look perfect. I'll try v-force 4 next top end.
Kinda bling, but not really. The xtrig preload adjuster. It's an 8mm bolt that rises and lowers the reload ring, gets rid of that POS nylon ring and its much faster to adjust with a electric impact.

Ah i seee. Thanks for the insight.

I'm good on the motor right now, I may do something in the future though.

The PDHS works great and the PC link really helped my TC turn better. I can't wait til the weather gets warmer.

By setting deck height I assume you mean set squish? Or referring to something different? And what do you mean by set power valve dimensions?

It's the height of the power valve flapper. Commonly referred to as they"z" dimension in your manual.

Yes, KTM calls it (X) dimension. If you want to get crazy you can look into head volume.

I rode a 2015 sx 250 a few laps last fall at my local practice track, kid parked next to me had it, maybe 2-3 hrs on it at most, I was riding my 2012 xc 300 with factory conn susp. & fmf pipe & silencer, set up for mx. Right away the forks felt harsh as hell, maybe not broke in yet, If it were my bike that day I would have lowered fork oil level, I was really disappointed in the motor, good low end but went flat on top, My 300 felt much faster, I"m sure the bigger carb, pipe & silencer fix the top end, but I think a 300 kit would be first on my list for mods, is there a major redesign of the sx 2 strokes in 2016?
