Athlete Thomas Bordelon Further Melds Action Sports and Hip Hop With the Release of Songs “Tippen” and “Shadez”

New artist has been in the studio recording tracks while working on his Supermoto program for 2009
 
Clear Lake, Texas (March 10, 2009) – Hip hop music has been infused into action sports for years. Walking through the ‘fan zone’ at national events, such as AMA Supercross and the X Games, you can hear hip hop music blasting on speakers at vendor booths and hospitality areas. Many of the sports’ videos include hip hop as the infusion gels with the intensity of action sports. It was only a matter of time before another athlete set to record his own brand of hip hop music. Enter Supermoto racer Thomas Bordelon, also known as T-Mo, who has brought his talents from the track to the microphone.

 

Bordelon has been in the studio since late last year laying down tracks with the likes of established artists Kiotti, Coop, Kano and Paul Wall. With the support of Sauviz Entertainment, this new artist has recorded a number of songs at E. Studios in Bellaire, Texas. He is now recording additional tracks at Sugarhill Studios in Houston leading to his first CD. Taking the viral marketing path, Bordelon has been releasing some of the tracks at www.myspace.com/tmoworldwidemusic and to radio stations in the Houston area.

 

One track, “Tippen,” has received radio play in Houston. Bordelon has performed a few times at Houston area clubs. On Friday, March 27 he will open for Damn D at Festival City in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

 

The music is largely based on Bordelon’s life and recent tragedies that impacted his family and friends. He is also a devout Christian and has included his faith in the songs.

 

“This was the next logical step as I look to my future beyond racing,” said Bordelon. “Besides racing motorcycles, getting into hip hop has been a dream for 15 years. Once I had the opportunity to jump into the studio last year, I took it. Hip hop has a lot of energy and is original, just like action sports. A lot of athletes listen to it and many videos in our sport have hip hop music since the flow follows the intensity of action sports.”

 

PowerBar Team Elite athlete Bordelon began racing the XTRM AMA Pro Supermoto Championship in the Lites 250cc Class last year. Since age 14 he has aspired to be involved in the hip hop scene while making his way into motocross. For a number of years he raced pro-am motocross locally in Texas, even taking on a few AMA Pro Motocross Nationals. He brought his skills and hardcore edge to Supermoto in late 2007, a unique form of racing seen on the ESPN-produced X Games that includes both asphalt and dirt sections with large jumps using motocross-based machinery.

 

Bordelon still has hopes to compete in this year’s XTRM AMA Pro Supermoto Championship which is a couple weeks away from the opening round. Like many other racers, the tough economic climate has impacted his program. Bordelon still has motivation to go to the track and if the right opportunity comes, he’ll be at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California on March 22 ready to race.
