Baggett Claims First Podium of Season in Atlanta | Team RMATVMC-KTM-WPS

Payson, UT (Feb.27, 2017) – It was a wild weekend for Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS, as the eighth round of the Monster Energy Supercross season made its way to Atlanta, GA, for one last race inside the famed Georgia Dome. Blake Baggett led the charge for Team RMATVMC as he scored his (and the team’s) first podium of the season.

Blake Baggett started the day on the gas, finding the fast way around the Atlanta track and posting the fifth-fastest qualifying time of the day. He brought that speed into his heat race as he blasted out of the gate and took over the lead before the end of the first lap. He checked out from the rest of the field, putting on a riding clinic and taking his first heat race win of the season and a spot in the main event.

Taking full advantage of his prime gate pick, Blake used the explosive power of the FMF Racing 4.1 Exhaust system to launch out of the gate, rounding the first turn in 3rd. Not wasting any time, he took over 2nd place and with his Scott goggles keeping his vision clear. Baggett kept pace with the leader, even closing the gap by mid-race on the deteriorating track. Hitting his lines every lap, Baggett continued to attack the track and ride with confidence. He only slid back one position late in the race, taking the checkered flag—a season-best 3rd place and the team’s first podium of the 2017 season.

“Tonight, I was on it,” said Baggett. “We are putting things together, and I am feeling more confident on the bike. It felt good to get on the podium. The whole team has been behind me, and this is the start of bigger and better things. We’ll continue to progress and move up next weekend in Toronto.”

Davi Millsaps did not race the night show due to an unfortunate crash in practice. Rather than risk further injury, the team and Davi decided it would be better to sit out and focus on coming back healthy in Toronto.

Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS now heads to Toronto, Ontario, for round nine of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross series.
