Added reply in a thread News on Nick Gaines (250 heat nasty crash)?? 3/8/2020 9:22 PM

I've been wondering/thinking the same thing... looked bad, I yelled out load at the tv. It's my fault, I had him picked on my fantasy team. Best wishes and recovery.

You guys are all doing a hell of a lot better than me.

Every round seems like I have one rider that fails to qualify or gets hurt. Last night I had Nick Gains in the 250. Was out the first lap in the 250 heat race. I've learned to stop picking ... more »

As much as I love Millville, and it's my home track, I doubt the facility could handle MXoN. It's still pretty primitive.

KTM part # 54803190100 I'll keep the extra decals for now, I plan on wearing them out.

Installed a KTM hard parts skid plate today. It was only $25 on ktm-parts. Gotta protect the new frame coating. Bolts up like it was original from the factory. Supposed to be easy on and off, even though I had to remove the exhaust pipe.

Have it's first ride planned this Monday at the Cedar Lake indoor arena. Just gotta tighten the chain, and change some fluids. Had to put the stock pipe back on, my FMF one got too twisted on the last fall ride. I'll see if I can straighten it, otherwise

Just a bath of hot tap water and simple green. Let it soak for 10-15 min and scrub with a toothbrush. I love simple green, use that $hit on everything. Also interested in some grommets to go around the coolant tee. I saw someone cut and modified the ... more »

Replaced the ignition cover with an OEM one. The old one no longer sealed dirt and dust. Note, the new replacement from KTM, does not have the KTM logo on it.

Plan on using paint stripper on my clutch cover, and going for a raw aluminum look ... more »

Update. Slow with the updates, mostly because nothing really note worthy. Engine is all back together, with new top end. I estimate the machine has around 75 hours on it. So low end has plenty of life. Piston was replaced once by PO, probably didn't

Thanks lumpy. I haven't tightened down the clamps yet, because I was thinking the same thing. Those are the clamps that were installed by the previous owner... Undecided which clamps I will order, the KTM ones or the ones you guys supply. I understand ... more »

Thanks, and you're welcome. I use the photos for a reference when putting stuff back together. You think you'll remember when taking it apart, then 2-3 weeks go bye...

Funny the things you find when doing a complete tear down. Noticed the brake spring wore the hole out. Thought about having someone weld it but, found one of the bearings also seized. So, time for new brake pedal too.

I went with ... more »

Really interested to see how this thing performs with the power valve correctly adjusted. I've never played with the power valves. Never had any complaints riding it, no lack of power which is strange. Think I would have noticed something. Just doing ... more »

This is the one area of the frame I have mixed feelings on. Anyone here that has powder coated a KTM frame knows that you could potentially destroy the VIN # stamped in the frame. That's cause it's only stamped into the powder coat. My guy taped it off.

I dropped it off at the powder coater with dirt still on it. They sandblasted the entire frame before powder coating. Cost me less than $200 for the whole process.

Remove the power valve cover and this is what I find...

I would remove the exhaust pipe and right side power valve cover for inspection. Very minor disassembly. While going thru my 14 250SX rebuild, I removed the same cover and found the power valve spring with zero tension and not connected. Assuming my ... more »
