Good move.

I haven't seen a pipe that has needed a jetting change on the YZ. Starting with stock jetting and working from the would be the best thing to do. I know Euro spec jetting is slightly different than here in the states, but I'm not sure why. I cut a lot ... more »

If the spring is too stiff you have low preload and excessive static sag when set to proper race sag. If the spring is to soft you have high preload and low static sag numbers when set to proper race sag.

Before you go crazy try just opening the air screw about 1/2 a turn and see if it does it. If it still does then start looking for an air leak.

7 turns of total preload isn't too bad. Your 105mm and 45mm say the spring is actually a little stiff, so I doubt you have too much preload.

Yeah, it's way wrong. Needs to be about half that.

Cut your cylinder base .5mm. That will lower the port timing and pull the power peak down a little lower in the rpm range. It will also tighten up the squish to 1mm. You can open the chamber in the head to put back some volume lost with the tighter squish, ... more »

Wow, that's interesting. That thing must have some sort of crazy linkage ratio, sort of like the older Honda XR's. Shows what I know. I'd love to hear how it turns out with the new spring.

Added reply in a thread '78 RM 100 Project, Crankshaft Question... 3/27/2020 11:48 AM

I wouldn't worry to much about the crank wheels, nor the cases, but it's those screwed up threads that are going to be a problem, Hard to tell from the picture, but the whole end of the shaft appears to be mushroomed out pretty bad. Might check around ... more »

Well all this is based on the stock spring being 6.4. My advice is contact race tech directly and see what they have to say about your situation and you can order a spring from them. I’d guess they might even be cheaper than going with the dealer. They ... more »

The chain thing is normal, but you have to compensate for it. It will get its tightest when it becomes parallel with the countershaft and swing arm pivot. The specs for slack in the manual should account for that. Back to the spring, you look like you’re ... more »

Added reply in a thread Yz125 Restyle kit graphics 3/26/2020 11:55 AM

The Rtech restyle kit requires the use of Rtech specific graphics. The standard 15+ graphics will not work with Rtech's restyle kit, but there are a number of companies that offer Rtech restyle graphics.

Yeah, I think your going to be in the ball park for race sag once you get it a little closer on the free sag. There must be almost no preload on the spring the way it is now. The Race Tech calculator is usually pretty close on spring rates and I can ... more »
