Started new thread YZ fork lug and triple clamp color? 5/15/2016 10:58 PM

Does anyone know the color and source for fork-lug touch-up paint for 2014 YZ250f? I know this is a common color, shared with the YZ450F among others. Zed.

I assume you looked at everything closely in the engine when you had the engine apart and in preparation for anodizing the cases. Did you notice anything that wasn't quite right from the factory with respect to port matching, torque specs, crank run-out, ... more »

Back in 2005 I raced a YZ250 after a few years riding a 125 and 250Fs. Those little bikes taught me not to use the clutch. I rode tight woods, mx, sand, you name it. When I got on the YZ250 really used the clutch a lot more and on almost every corner ... more »

Bridgestone, Dunlop, Pirelli, Michelin HD. They are all way more gummy than STI, Kenda, Kings etc and that makes them more pinch resistant. In terms of weight, I don't think I've noticed much difference bw all of them.

Use someone local. Use someone that is well-represented at your local tracks and/or regional races. That was Factory Connection for me. I'm really happy w my 2011 250SX PDS shock and 48 mm forks. They recommended 120 mm of sag on the shock, and I found ... more »

What did you figure out was the cause? How is it running now?

Show the pictures to Eric Gorr as he will have a pretty good idea as to why your ring snagged the port. I'm guessing you had too little fuel or no premix oil. Splitting the cases to find the piece of broken ring is not that difficult, but can be time ... more »

I got mine at Donnybrook airport, in Vic back in the 2000s through a friend. Arrive with a slab or a box of pies and see what happens.

Av gas is another alternative to race gas if you have an airport near by. Blend at 25/75 with your 91 pump, or do the same with your race gas, to suit yourself. Great looking bike: thumbsup.

Added reply in a thread Leather or Kevlar for inside leg of MX pants? 12/21/2015 1:52 PM

All of the premium pants have a leather knee. If you want good resistance to holes and the best heat protection, get full leather. Kevlar was what was used in the 90s. I would only go back to Kevlar if I was on a very tight budget, and even then, only ... more »

Regular steel rear sprocket weighs approximately twice as much, in my experience. The composite (twin ring) sprockets are right in the middle. Dirt tricks/MSR/Ironman rear sprockets are the best of both worlds.

Its rich as can be from 0 to half, no doubt about it. My track is glen Helen, where its near sea level and warm. It's not a needle clip position or a pilot size off - it's like miles too rich.

Added reply in a thread KTM 250 SX Carb Swap 11/20/2015 4:38 PM

I tried your suggested brass, digger and my bike still loaded up in the first half throttle really badly and could only be cured by switching off the gas, and even then, it would only run decent for the tiny window between running out, and totally starved ... more »
