Grab both upper fork tubes (at or slightly above the red ring where the seals are) and rock them back and forth. If there is play, or you can hear the same sound, your steering stem bearings need to be checked out. If there's no play or noise at the ... more »

Funny that Broc says "brush off speed"... brush and scrub being related words as they are. This is Steffy back in 1987:

Added reply in a thread Cerakote Awesomeness **Updated Pics!** 11/8/2019 10:29 PM

I would love to see some photos of well used Cerakoted parts. What does it look like when it chips, scratches or wears through? Someone must have some old coated parts with a ton of time on them.

Iraq? I spent some time in Iraq through 2007 and I didn't have much hope for them long term despite the best efforts of our coalition forces. In general, I found that people there do not have the resolve to fix their country at the individual level, ... more »

Added reply in a thread 250 two stroke too much for 14 yr old? 11/6/2019 7:33 PM

Buy a 125 or a 150 and lose about 30 to 50 pounds. You'll learn a lot on the smaller bike for a year. That will make you a better rider the rest of your life. Loosing some weight will make you faster, safer and you'll be able to ride longer. Also, you'll ... more »

Added reply in a thread Revalue or freshen up fluids and seals on suspension 11/3/2019 10:21 AM

The stock valving on that bike is more than good enough for a 150lb guy in the C class. Save most of your cash and skip the re-valve... Get the adjustable link from Devol instead. That YZ250F chassis from 2014 to 2018 handles a lot better with a 143.5mm ... more »

Check the seal between the air-boot and air-box. Disassemble the entire thing, take the boot out of the box and clean everything. Make sure it's sealed up properly. I think a lot of people who use spray on filter-oil tend to under-oil their filters. ... more »

Added reply in a thread Lowering a subframe 10/26/2019 3:23 PM

8mm shorter on the lower support bolt hole works out to about 1/2" at the back of the seat on most bikes. Every bike has different angles and lengths so it's not the same for different years / makes / models. If you measure the length of each side of ... more »

Added reply in a thread Are the Rocky Mountain KTM guys privateers?? 10/26/2019 12:20 PM

A minor technicality, but I would consider the white KTMs the #2 team, making these guys #3.

Added reply in a thread What Do Riders Look For In A Moto Track 10/21/2019 12:26 AM

If the land is already clear of trees, etc just go out with some cheap lath stakes and make a course layout. Bring some buddies who have experience at a variety of tracks, tell them to bring their work gloves and their bikes. Ride it and adjust as necessary. ... more »

Added reply in a thread Riders not paying?! 10/18/2019 8:09 PM

Different trades and different companies have different standards. Look at it like a blue collar trade: In many trades it's traditional to supply some of the tools used to do the work. Mechanics, electricians, machinists, welders, etc. all do this. Some ... more »

Added reply in a thread Mike Alessi on YZ325 for MEC 10/15/2019 10:59 PM

Actually I just re-watched the '97 Vegas Supercross tonight. If there is a single race that proves your comment, that's the one. Mike was never the fastest indoor guy and he's got to be around age 30 now. Great starts and being in or near the top ten ... more »

Added reply in a thread Quiet exhaust? 10/14/2019 11:40 AM

When I had a YZ450, I had the PC exhaust on it. They included a spark-arrestor insert (a cone made out of wire-mesh screen). That little insert made the bike much more pleasant on the ears, plus it actually helped the power delivery at initial crack ... more »

Just a thought: For the price of a re-valve, you can probably find a set of good-used spring forks and get them serviced.

Added reply in a thread Supercrosslive TV Auto Renewed and Refusing to Refund 10/12/2019 8:16 PM

You'll pay about $230 to have PowerSeal re-plate it and ship it back to you (I've had multiple jugs done over the years, including some YZ250s). They list their price at $199 to strip/plate/hone: http://www.powersealusa.com/prices/ Welding repairs are ... more »

Added reply in a thread Thought I had it figured out, but need some thoughts 10/9/2019 7:57 PM

It's going to be really hard to go wrong with a 2007 YZ250. Parts are everywhere and Yamaha still makes essentially the same bike using essentially the same parts. Out here in the northwest, asking price for any YZ250 with an aluminum frame is around ... more »
