New Year...New Challenges

To be frank, I have never been keen on New Year celebrations.  At times it seems as though today's society uses this roll over in the calendar year as an excuse to pass out and pee their pants without being the center of public ridicule.  I for one think, if you urinate in your pants in public, you SHOULD be the center of public ridicule, no matter what day of the year it is.

For those who aren't regurgitating finger foods and margaritas on New Years Eve, there is a sense of a new beginning.  A chance to start fresh, to better yourself and prepare for future life challenges.

I am a big advocate of self improvement and personal challenges.  They symbolize more than "kicking a bad habit", they show strength, determination, self control and positively.  Once you have completed your goal the self gratification is outstanding, it fuels the fire to continue.  You become a better, more controlled human being.  Even though some might think it’s irrelevant to stop drinking soda or eating Twinkies, you have practiced some of life’s most valuable characteristics on a daily basis, preparing yourself for larger challenges life will bring you.

For 2008, my resolution is to be happy.  Happy with my social life, happy with my career, happy with what I have accomplished in twenty three years.  It sounds so simple on paper, but sometimes there are uncontrollable variables that leave constant negative impressions in your mind and they begin to boil over affecting many aspects of life.  If you aren’t happy, the people close to you aren’t happy; it’s as simple as that.

Cheers to a New Year and cheers to a new challenge
