We recently got a good look at what AXO is up to for ’09, and we got the green light to give you a few peeks.

One of the things that had taken up a lot of AXO’s development time recently is their Prime boots. They’re stoked enough with them that they claim they’ll put their $275 boot up against anything their competition makes.

What did surprise us was that AXO’s designer Kenny Safford was already testing a new, soon-to-be-released boot. We couldn’t pry the exact price point of the new boot out of him, but he did mention that it’ll be aimed squarely at the competitive meat of the market.

One of the more interesting items that they were showing off was a new style of upper body wear. Yes, they still do the usual array traditional jerseys, but they also had a tight-fitting compression jersey (think like Under Armour gear that football and baseball players wear). The compression jerseys are matched up with a Team Issue vest that gives the overall look a more traditional styling, but it’s still definitely unique. The multi-panel design has a fully vented back, and air flows easily through the arms, side and back. There’s also silicone print on both the compression layer and the vest, so you can keep things tucked in.

The Phoenix Pants got an update, with added panels in fit-dependant areas. On the interior of the pant over the knee, they added a stretch panel that allows the knee and lower leg to bend and move independently from the rear saddle and waist. You get better movement in the knee area, and without having the pants trying to head south at the waist. They also added a softer lining, and less restrictive cuff for additional comfort.

The pants and gloves, as well as the graphics, all get updates for '09.

In the glove department, they’ve also worked to update their Padlock gloves, by increasing comfort and grip, as well as the airflow.

We’re not sure on the arrival date of this stuff to your local dealers, but in the meantime, we’d suggest checking in at www.axo.com
