Lake Whitney Day 3

Things are starting to heat up in Lake Whitney as the classes get closer to their main events. John Parkinson sent us this note that's too long to run as a caption, but we wanted to include it here so you get the whole story.

The biggest race of the day was by far the 125cc A/Prosport class.  It started out great in the first division; Trey Canard fought his way through the pack to the front to take the win.  There was not much battling going on in the first division.  However the second division was where it was at!  Chris Johnson pulled off the holeshot with Nico Izzi in second.  The two of them were coming down the hill when Izzi ran into Johnson knocking him off the track.  Johnson was forced to cut off a corner to get back on the track, which put him back into the lead.  By this time Trent Pugmire (Puggy) worked his way into the third spot and was all over Izzi.  The two pushed forward and ran down Johnson; Izzi got around Johnson for the lead but Puggy did not have such luck with Johnson.  Crossing the line with three laps to go Puggy knew he had to get around Johnson so Izzi would not check out, the two of them went over a table and Puggy started moving over to make the block pass.  Johnson let off a little but not enough and hit Puggy’s rear tire causing him to go down.  Puggy chased down Izzi once again and the two of them started banging bars.  Puggy was all over Izzi and was trying everything to make the pass; Nico was riding an extremely wide bike and did a great job keeping Trent behind him.  While the two of them were throwing down Jarred Browne was on a mission to the front (from eighth place).  Before Browne could get in the heat of battle with the two leaders, Izzi made a mistake and went wide in a corner which let Puggy get underneath him.  With control of the corner Puggy started to drift out wide to make the block pass, but Nico did not want that to happen so he held it on pinned and took both of them out.  Browne went on by both of them taking over the lead.  It did not end there; instead of re-mounting his bike Izzi decided to take a swing at Puggy first.  He then re-mounted his bike and could not start it so went back over to Puggy and got in his face and started shaking his bike.  Things got broken up by the officials and protests were filed by the Izzi’s.  Nothing happened to either rider other than bad finishes.

Stay tuned for more from Texas.
