Vital MX New Year's How-To: Hop Up Your Profile

Not all New Year's resolutions are created equal. Resolving to lose weight, go to the gym more often, and setting goals…those are things that most motocrossers do almost instinctively. But as we begin 2007 (and with the start of the Supercross season only days away), we do have a trio of ideas for things you can do.

Step 1: Join Vital MX

You're not getting the most out of the site if you're not a member, and it's free to join, so what are you waiting for? As a member you can:

  • Upload photos and videos.
  • Comment on photos in the photo galleries.
  • Build your profile.
  • Connect with other site members.
  • Message back and forth, and add comments to profiles.
  • We welcome profiles from individuals, teams, and businesses...anything moto-related.
  • Write blog entries.
  • Post in the Forums.
  • Write reviews on the gear in the Product section.

Just click the Join Now button at the right end of the nav bar, or click the following link to join Vital MX. The form to sign up is fast, easy, and...did we mention that it's free to join?

Oh, and if you're already a member here, why not tell a friend?

Step 2: Hop Up Your Profile

Are you already a member of Vital MX? Have you finished up your profile? The stock image for people who haven't uploaded a photo of their own is a James Stewart whip over a triple, and we're guessing that's probably not you (though there are quite a few national-caliber pros registered on Vital MX).

We'd guess that you don't leave the stock graphics on your bike, so why leave the stock graphics on your profile?

When you first sign up as a member you're presented an opportunity to upload a photo for your main image, but if you were signing up from a work or school computer and didn't have a photo ready to upload, or just weren't ready to upload one at the time, here's how you can remedy that.

1. Log onto Vital MX with your username and password.

2. Once you're logged in, click the MY PROFILE button in the nav bar.

3. Looking at the top right of your profile page, you're presented with three options:

4. Click the Update Your Main Image link, and you can select a photo from your hard drive to post.

Tip: The main profile images  are auto-cropped to a square shape for the Browse/Search pages, so it's best to either use a square photo to start with, or at least make sure that the area that you want prominent in the photo isn't too far off to one side in the image you upload.

5. If you don't like the result, you can always go back to your profile and try again with a different photo.
