Oh ok. The pictures looked like they were from Lake LA or Littlerock/Palmdale/Lancaster area. If you’re ever up for LACR let me know

This looks incredible, great job!

I’m curious to your approach on the swing arm , you mentioned you sandblasted it, what media did you use ?

I was curious which airbox and side panels you got ?? I am back and forth on getting the 2015+ side panels/airbox. Some days I love it, others I’m like naaah... I’ve got the ufo restyle kit on now. I’ve been eye balling the rtech plastic kit

This is the Polisport restyle plastic. $135 for the kit with airbox.

Recently I updated the swingarm to 09 swingarm with big axle. Come out little longer, about 1/2 inch and lower the rear end for 1/2 inch also, sort of what aftermarket linkage will do., longer chain was necessary .

Also the 50mm Marzocchi fork was too much for this bike so I replaced with 2015 SSS front end. I can't wait to spin some laps with these upgrades, hopefully next week.

Amazing bike! What did you do to make the swing arm and linkage fit?

Well, Recently I sold my 2016 yz250 and I really miss that bike. So last weekend I purchased this Metal mulisha clapped out 2002 yz250 for $1300 . Bike is actually not so bad. Engine ,frame, radiators, exhaust is in good shape and everything else will get replaced anyway. Since I ride Ktm and I really like the steal frame so I chose yz250 with the steal frame. I remember I had 01 and 05 yz250 back in the days and I did like 01 better.

Very good job! kinda how i want to do my 04.

I also bought my 04 as a clapped out Metal Mulisha bike for $1300, haha. I got a 09 yz250f swing arm and linkage I plan to install by spring, what link did you use? From what I've read I could bolt the 04 linkage on, correct? do you know if that would change the sag? or is it the 09 link that lowered it 1/2 inch? still a lot I want to do to my bike just can't find the time.. need to move.

Hey man, I think I sent you a message earlier regarding the works marzocchis.

If you still have them and want to sell. Send me a message here, I see you changed them out!

Bike looks AWESOME, I bet it's fun to rip!

After doing some testing with the update swingarm I come to conclusion that the bike works better with the stock. It changes the bike handling and won’t work with the existing spring. Stiffer spring is necessary. The update looks good but I won’t do it again.

How exactly did it change the handling, and if it needed a stiffer spring, did you try a stiffer spring?

Well the new swingarm is longer so that changes the handling. I did change to the stiffer spring but even with that the rear end feld not so progressive. The longer swingarm changed the characteristics of the bike. Maybe some people like it but not for me . I guess that Yamaha knows what they doing and there is a reason why they don’t run the longer swingarm.

Did the new clamps bolt up or did you have to press in the old stem?
I have a 04 i will be adding SSS suspension swap.
Thanks.

Ran into this exact issue on the kx 65 when experimenting with dog bones. Had some custom made when my son couldn’t quite touch the ground. Those lowered the back about 3 inches. Problem was it caused more leverage on the shock making it feel softer. Had to run the rear wheel all the way forward to cut down on that. I’m guessing a custom link might remedy your issue but not sure if it would even be worth it.
