Long time lurker first time poster. (almost makes it sound like a peeper tom) Recently purchased a 2006 KLX 300 in okay shape and decided that I would do a 2018 conversion on it. I'm sure this is going to be all sorts of difficult but I wanted to see if I could make a bike that has the looks of a 2018 KXF but the ride of a good trail bike.
I have purchase all the parts needed so far and will try to update this as I go. The initial picture shows the bike after unloading it into my garage. The girl who owned it had ran into the back of her boyfriend going 40mph and tweaked the bars and luckily only the bars. I have heard the KLX 300 has pretty poor forks so I am starting with those and also doing a thorough fluids and filter change. Then powder coating and add all the new parts.
