About a year ago i picked up a 2007 Cr125r off a guy for $1300. At the time i wanted to pick up a cheaper 125 that ran and i could have fun with every now and then. Got to the place and the bike ended up being in really good condition, and little did both the seller and I know, it had a full Hinson Clutch. Rode it without doing anything to it for about a year and started favoring riding this than my 15 yz250, with the mentality ill fix it once it blows. Compression finally started to get low, had an unrelated injury breaking my pointer finger, so i figured it was time to give the bike a good once over.

Dont plan on putting any crazy expensive, unique parts on it, just wanting to clean it super good and replace what i think along the way

Started the tear down process. Bought a oem top end kit on ebay that came with a size B piston. Once i looked at the cylinder i decided to get it replated at powerseal, matched to a Size A piston, and keep the size B for the next time it needs a top end

Banged my radiator up over the summer and never got around to pulling it off to try and fix it, came out pretty good! Louver will now sit how it should!

Started scrubbing, not doing any blasting (next time around i will, hand scrubbing sucks lol). Just used maroon scotch brite, and wd40. Also found scotch brite discs for a drill that save a ton of time, and my fingers and hand.

Little before and after

Nothing special on the frame either, wd and scotchbrite, then hit it with a buffer and mothers mag aluminum polish

Thanks! I was surprised it came out as good as it did too. As for the forks, that was a head ache lol. They aren’t the stock forks and the guy I got it off told me that, but he wasn’t sure what they were off. I got the numbers off the seals and googled them and didn’t get much info and then came across them on racetechs website. They’re showa 47mm according to their site. I need to get new ones and the 07 cr250 use the same seal number so I’m just going to order those

Got a ton of stuff done over the holiday weekend. Lots of cleaning, linkage and swingarm bearings, etc. All thats left is the fork seals, new chain and sprockets, bars and grips, and got a new set of factory effect graphics, and some more cleaning then shes done!

Last thing im doing is the fork seals, as they were leaking pretty bad, even after i would use a seal cleaner. These were a huge headache since they arent stock forks. Guy told me they werent that i bought it off, but wasnt sure what they were off cause he never needed to replace them. I ended up pulling the dust seal number, searching it and coming to racetechs web, which were for showa 47mm forks. First guess to order was to put a 2007 CR250 in and see if i get the same seal part number. Ended up being the same so i ordered seals for the cr250. Next was the bushings. For 47mm forks, there is only one inner bushing so that was easy, but for the outer they make a 15mm tall bushing and a 12mm tall bushing. Pulled the forks apart to measure and mine is the 15mm. So back to racetechs website to see what they list for the CR250 and they list the 15, again what i have. So now i can just order seal and bushing kits, or any other part (needed an o-ring) for 2007 CR250s and should be all good. Seal below thats torn, i measured the other side, and the oem seal is the same size for the Cr250. I havent put the forks back together yet cause im waiting for the bushings and oring, but i should be fine...hopefully.

Forks felt awesome when i got them, and i can visually see they revalved them because there is a nyloc nut on and its not peened. Also put a softer spring in one side to average the rate super close to what i would be running. I was bottoming them on the track, so ill play with fluid level once i get them all back together and see how they do
