Hi Guys, not sure if your interested but can do a build thread on this bike of mine I’m currently rebuilding

My last RM125 build (see page 3 onwards thanks to photobucket)

https://m.vitalmx.com/forums/Bike-Builds,46/Headlings-2002-RM125-Resto,…

It’s a British made frame by a company called Hejira, it was raced in the British motorcycle club and when new 1984 had a CR250 engine in it, this was later swapped out for a Rotax 257 250 engine

I’ve owned the bike for 15 years and was given to me by a dear friend who is sadly going through dementia

I started off sprinting the bike on the 1/4 mile and won a local championship on it, fastest run was 13.1 sec 1/4 mile at Santa pod Raceway
I then rebuilt it and added the fairings and did a few track days and raced it a few years afterwards

Something different from the mx bikes but still old school and 2 stroke!

Here it is at Brands hatch 6 years ago, since then it’s been raced once and crashed so needs some love!

Do you have any photos of it when it was still fitted with the CR250 engine?
Very interesting bike I hope you keep it updated.

Hi... I know Derek the owner of Hejira, my Dad helped start the company with him in the early 1960s, my aunty who was dating Derek at the time came up with the company name, they built motocross bikes originally, I have some old programs with my Dad and Derek entered on Hejira’s. The workshop is all still on the farm in Gawcot in Buckinghamshire, UK, but I don’t think much goes on there now, Derek is involved with a race car team. He will be stoked that this is on here though as will my dad, they built some awesome bikes over the years, the carbon fibre frames, wheels etc, massive bhp 700cc+ water cooled Rotax 4-strokes for sound of the single road racing, bikes for the IOM TT, they were still building motocross bikes into the mid 90s. Great to see one being loved, keep the updates coming on here.

That’s amazing sidecar! What a small world!

I don’t know too much about the bike but be great if you can show Derek and the Hejira guys!

Little bit more done tonight, triple clamps cleaned up with good old scotchbrite and gt85, I didn’t want them polished as they would need lots of work to keep them nice, re greased the bearings and new SS hardware

Awesome work... I probably won’t see Derek until sometime this summer but I’m so stoked to tell my Dad about this, I never in a million years thought a Hejira would pop up on here...

Thanks Sidecar and AK for the info/links, will get hold of a copy of the book, info on google is pretty scarce on Hejira

They sounded like an awesome firm with some proper engineering and awesome ideas!

Will keep this thread going!

Got a new CNC alloy throttle fitted and modded a pit bike brake lever to fit it

Cleaned up the 6 piston front calliper too, just needs some new pads fitting

Painted up the dash/fairing bracket

Front ends nearly done, then onto the cooling system!

Glad it’s still coming along well... You should bring it to the Brackley Festival of Motorcycling in the middle of August, Derek from Hejira will be there... Plus it’s a rad day of custom bikes, scooters, road racing demos motocross demos, trials demos, fmx, wall of death, speedway and grass track bikes basically all two wheeled disciplines are represented.

As a frame maker, I've followed many manufacturers(big and small) efforts over the years. Britain has had / has, so many great Motorcycle Chassis and Parts makers / engineers.

I always liked Heijira's steering head set up - the beams meeting forward and the head tube 'within' them. Something they carried over into their CF frames.

2 questions:

I assume your using a longer muffler might be down to increasing noise controls at tracks? When you see Road Registerable production bikes not passing track day noise regs - eg, Panigales - you know things are getting tight.

And, the 'Pro Squat' brake torque arm that I see in one of the above pictures. It's pretty full on in it's geometry- is there another/other mount point(s) for a more conventional floating mount? I tried the 'cross over' set up a few times, and really found it strange. How's it feel to you?

Yes the new muffler is to make it quieter for track days as like you say they are getting pretty hot on the db readings these days

No cant see another mounting point for the brake, as for the handling it seems great so far (not ridden it loads) but can certainly beat up the superbikes in the corners on the Hejira, I had a great battle with a ducati round Brands batch indy circuit, he passed me on every straight and I pass him on every corner!
