its been done by a french shop i think in 2015. if i remember correct they modded the 2016 sub frame a little. Shroud mount may require some mod or bracket.

That looks sweet! At this point I'll never have to sell my KTM!! Here it was with 2011 body when new, now with 2014 body, heck I'll just rebody the thing over and over!

That 2011 to 2013 update wasn't a big deal, everything basically fits except the front fender right?

Just seems like a lot of work just for an aesthetic effect. Have you researched how much you can buy a used 2016 for?

No it wasn't that bad. The airbox took a little trimming, the shrouds took a little finagling and the front fender had to be redrilled in order to mount. But no welding or anything.

As for why I would rebody it...I love this bike. 100% absolutely love it. Also, all of this body work, including OEM fender decals and stuff was $250. I have to remind myself that enjoying the ride is more important than having the new cool stuff. But if I can keep my bike - and - make it look like a new one, that's a no brainer to me.

Has anyone fitted latest model KTM front fender/number plate to previous generation bikes?

I get caught in that same predicament and have to remind myself of the same things. I currently have a 2017 350 SXF and I love that bike like no other. She will be dead when I replace her

Thanks everyone for replying! It would be almost $2000 if I wanted to fully convert my 2012 KTM 125 SX to the new plastics. The reason its this much would be because you would need a new subframe, swing arm, air box/air boot and a 2016/2017 gas tank plus the plastics. On ebay they do sell a front number plate/ front fender conversion kit for $75 with the plastics included, so thats my best bet for a new looking KTM. Thank you!

That's a bit high. I just checked brand new parts including full plastic, gas tank, seat, and subframe and it came to $1100 shipped to my door.

This was almost exclusively KTM OEM parts, including $70 worth of stickers, $177 rubber air boot, and some other doo dads that you could trim out if you wanted to stay a little cheaper. Also it included a new air filter. If I were seriously interested, I would try and source a few parts used (like that boot!) and I'm confident I could do it for under a grand.

In my opinion, to keep a bike that I like and make it pass for a 2017 to an undiscerning eye is something to consider.

I wanted to do this but just ended up saying screw it and going with the 13'-15 plastics on my 12'. I really don't in the long run as long as she keeps starting and running.

Has anybody done the conversion yet?! I have a 2015 150sx i want to do the change and i already have all the parts ready to buy from eBay and it will come out to $600 and something. But i just want to make sure i can do it before buying any parts. Another thing i have a 2017 ktm 250sxf factory edition, should i take the subframe and tank from that bike to see if it fits? Thanks

I wouldnt mind knowing about this either. This may seem far fetched, but I have a 2006 KTM 300XC. Its the last of the 'old shape' (think McGrath 2003 shape). I've seen a guy update that shape onto the next gen, (think Nick Wey 2008 shape). I've also seen a guy update that shape onto the next gen, (think Ryan Dungey 2012 shape), and guys have then updated onto the later version of that shape (think Ken Roczen 2014 shape). Now we see the French company update the last shape onto the most current shape we have available - (think Marvin Musquin 2018).
Whew! That was a mouthful. Anyway, I like most long and tedious amounts of f***ing around, I think it would be possible to do this with lots of customisation. Maybe I'll pony up and buy the airbox and start from there. And no - I don't have any interest in selling the 06 300XC for a new '18... it would make sense, but I own the bike, its in awesome condition, and as fast as I'll ever need.

Hey. Yes it works if you buy everything needed, 2016 or newer for everything listed: Tank, Swing arm, Sub Frame, Seat, Full Airbox and plastics. It will work after a lot of effort. I also have a 2017 KTM 250SXF so I was just trying to make my 2012 125 SX match it. Ultimately I didn't want to spend the $600 + for a bike when it really wont improve anything or make the performance better. I ended up settling with the 2016-2018 Front fender and front number plate conversion kit that costs between $50-$80 on ebay. If someone can figure out a way to do the full conversion kit for under $300 let me know cause to me the $600+ to just change how the bike looks wasn't worth it to me especially when I already have a 2017 KTM 250 SXF that has those plastics.

It looks like the plastic is bolt on the old airbox but the tank is the new. I guess that you have to weld a new fastener point on the frame though? Anyone else tried this?

I’m just in the process of doing the 2015 to 2017 conversion so far everything has lined up, used basically tank and subframe and airbox and obviously plastics and seat. So far so good just have to work on exhaust and little bits tomorrow
