Swapped this 250 KTM 2015 for my 450. Rode it for approx 1h 15mins and then engine blew mid air. Sent me over the bars landing on my shoulder. Snapped the humerus up in the shoulder and ligaments torn off the bone too. Op done and now recovering so I decided to whip the engine out and see the damage. I wish I hadn’t now SickSickSick

Holy shit dude. That's some bad luck, glad to see you weren't hurt worse. Is anything even salvageable? Possibly the clutch case?

Well I wouldn’t say that. I’m expected to be off work 5-6 months! The bone snapped into about 4 pieces Pinch From what I’ve taken apart so far, the clutch looks good and all the cogs. Power valve okay too. Haven’t split the cases yet but I hope the gears are reusable. Just looked up some prices on parts and it’s already setting me back around £1300 Sick and that’s hoping the gearbox is fine.

There is no need for parting the bike. You can find used engine cases, crankshaft and cylinder fairly easy for 250SX. I think engine cases from 2003 to 2016 will fit your bike and same with the crankshaft. Cylinder and cylinder head are same trough 2011-2016

Are you sure the cases are the same for them years? I’ve been looking online (I’m from the UK) and in almost a month of looking I’ve not found a single set of cases for sale!!

Man!!! Glad it wasn't worse! Hope recovery is going well.
Sorry to see this happen to you man... Such a freak deal. I guess this is why I rebuild used bikes before riding them. Such a shame that this happened to you..

I second that.

Hope you heal up dude, but sweet Lord that is a mess of a motor. Looked like a very unhappy rod.

OP I would message this seller or have them ship to somebody in the states for you because this is a screaming deal and all you'd need is crank/piston:

Oh wow! Thanks for looking and finding this! I’ve just messaged the seller now so I’m hoping we can sort something!

Huge props for sending the link over!

How many hours on it?

It had an hour meter on it that read 26. But I’m thinking that’s a lie!

Tell me about it! Looks like the rod snapped midway and then just destroyed everything on the way round!

I had a Yamaha YZ250 blow like that, but yours looks even worse than mine. Luckily I was just going up a hill and wasn't going over a jump. Hope you get better soon!

Hey guys thanks for the replies already. I’m looking to buy the engine cases from the above link. Problem is the shipping is coming back at $467!! I’ve managed to convince a friend to send it from Miami if I do decide to buy, but first wondered if anyone had any better options for me to ship it to the UK? Don’t really fancy paying that much!
Thanks

Send me an email at nick_mys ‘at’ msn.com and i’ll help you out. I am from Bristol and travel back fairly often. I also have a V Force 4 from my TC250 which was on the bike for about an hour back in 2014.

I third that one... That is the nastiest blown motor I've seen!
I'd send that to KTM... pictures etc. That's just nasty.
