I AM curious on what it takes to put a 99 or newer engine in the '10-'13 YZ250f frame......IMO IF Yamaha wanted to revamp it's 2 stroke lineup, they needn't look further than tossing in the current (same cases as the '99 YZ250) YZ250 2 stroke engine with a little bit in the way of frame modification bro the Y bracket on the '10-'13 YZ250f frame as their base for creating an "all new" 2 stroke model. Aesthetically this was, and still IS a very good looking bike and would modernize both the YZ125 & YZ250....... wouldn't hurt to make that YZ360 again in a bolt on GYTR kit as well. The '10-'13 YZ250f was a great chassis if I remember correctly it was just hampered by the pathetically outdated YZ250f engine. I wish Yamaha had gone this route with BOTH the 250f and 450f as the 2010 next generation model rather than releasing that I'll handling '10-'13 YZ450f IMO I don't think the bike was fully ready to go when Yamaha had released it and while I can't say for sure I do believe JS7's stint at Yamaha would've gone a lot better if so, plus they could've used fuel injection technology on the 450 within that design if they wanted to.
But to answer the OP, Yes, DEFINITELY shoot for stuffing in a YZ250 2 stroke engine If you can honestly I don’t know the difficulties specifics of what it would take to put that engine but I’m sure there is a lot of information on the Internet as well as plenty of people that have done it clearly from the pictures you can see at least two or three in this thread alone and if all else fails try to stuff a CR 500 or KX 500 motor in there LOL
Any details on the major things.
Swingarm engine case mating?
Carb boot alignment?
Front down tube modifications?
Cheers
As mine stands
Okay cant get a pic to upload

The swingarm bolt is a different diameter than the yz 2 strokes, but it would be neat to see if that dr.d engine relocation kit would be able to work in the YZ250 cases, and then be able to play with where your engine sits, and be able to choose a good place for it in the frame, move forward/back/up/down etc, dreamy project really.
Put a 450 in it and build a F450 road racer, then register it for road use.
Put the 900 triple in it, and a 3ft swingarm and climb Widowmaker
Or, bolt everything BUT the chassis, subframe, and tank to a 02 Steelie
Anything short of relocating the swing arm pivot hole will yield this low cradle condition. That's why the 4 stroke shock lengths are all +15 or +20mm over the twostrokes. To reach a lower linkage point in that lower cradle.
I'd like to use a 06 RM250 to set up the jig, throw the Suzuki frame away, and build my own trellis perimeter frame in the jig. Or do the same with a 09 KTM frame for the jig and see if I can get PDS to work right.
