Would you weld this engine case? Yz250

Bought a nice shape 2013 yz250 and was replacing all seals and gaskets took off ignition cover and found this piece was broke off. I have the piece as it was still held in place by gasket.

I wouldn’t normally repair a engine case but it’s only the ignition cover area and not damaged at all anywhere else.

My friend just is a expert aluminum welder and is confident he can make it perfect.

Yeah, is that on the flywheel side? There’s no oil in there or anything.

Yes it is the flywheel side. It’s a weak spot due to the rubber gromet for the magneto wires.

Thanks guys. I am going to take it to my friend this afternoon. I’ll post pics after it’s done.... wish me luck! Talk about a bad design. The cut out for the rubber seal on the bottom leaves that a weak spot in the case.
