Because kyb 48mm forks have a different clamp diameter than the Showa 48mm SFF/49mm SFF TAC.

It will fit the 13/14 kx450f frame but you'll need the proper Showa fork for it. The oem KYB won't fit those clamps.
Do you know if the clamp diameter is different on the top and bottom clamp? Just curious now. Both of my roommates switched from Showa to kyb with stock clamps and no problem. I have a 17 kx450 and put 16yz450 forks in my stock clamps and it felt great stock. I sent it to factory connection and told them it was going on a kawi and they had no problems with it.

Huh. I guess I don't have an answer for that. I put 13 KYB kx450 forks into my stock 17 250f clamps and they were just a tad smaller, brought that the gap where the bolts are closed completely. So now I'm confused too. Haha

That’s crazy! I just measured my forks, top and bottom diameters match the measurements of the clamps. Thanks for the info though.
