testing the waters - billit suzuki water pump guard

7/15/2017 2:47pm Edited Date/Time 7/20/2017 11:30am
Hello everyone. I'm building up an rm 125 2 stroke project bike. I have designed a custom 6061 billet aluminum water pump case guard. I'm testing the waters to see if there would be any interested in purchasing one from me. If there is interest I will consider running multiple units and selling them to guys building suzuki 2 stroke project bikes on here.

Here is a picture of the case guard and the case guard on the factory suzuki rm 250 for comparison purposes. Only issue is I have not fabricated the mounts that weld on to the frame. This is only for the case guard itself. Let me know what you guys think. I have not determined a price yet.

Thanks

Worth at least $40-$60 bucks. Do not have an RM2T but that's what I'd pay. Great work. Best of luck. Sorta bumping this thread for you. Hard work and ingenuity requires that. Pretty trick. A buddy of mine did the same thing on a steel frame YZ years ago. Told him to go the same route you're heading for. He never did. Wish you success.

Very nice! No RM but I think at least $60 is easily doable.

LOL. 60 bucks.... if you guys were machinists you'd realize how funny that is. But thanks for the compliments

I was just commenting along the lines of MXA963's post. I would guess in the market your looking at minimum $150.
Good luck.

Sorry, meant no disrespect. But,if a customer has to have the mounts welded then that is a fair price. Not trying to shit on your design at all. My friend made a similar design in his garage in less than an hour. You asked. I responded. $60 is fair in my opinion. I hope you sell a million of them. Again, your design is really good.

Its a fair price if it was 2 welded pieces of aluminium. This is machined billet aluminum. But yes no frame mounts is a pain I understand.

But to design this and mill it from billet aluminum. 60 is a joke. Your friends piece would not have been billet aluminum....

But no disrespect either Smile

Like I said. I wish you luck and hope you sell a ton. I apologize if I pissed you off. Definitely not my intentions.

ever come up with a price? just curious, I've tossed the idea of doing a team suzuki build and these would be first on the list to do.

I do not know if this fits on an rm 250. The frame rails are a little different then the rm 125 I'd have to check. Honestly I can't even break even at less then 300 per part. Unless I had like 20 buyers. Then the price drops dramatically. As I mentioned above this is limited part runs. Which drastically increases the price.

Its a high quality machined piece. Caters more towards people building all out Suzuki projects. Its not a casually rider build part.
