Hey guys , here within the next few rides I'll be hitting close to about 25 hours on this thing. I'm thinking since I want to tear it down and put a new top end in it , I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and get it ported and so forth? I'd like to keep running an OEM piston and using my VP 110 ( either strait or mixed ) as I don't want to use that oxygenated fuel as it's to expensive for me to justify it.
So if I was to run strait 110 @ about 36:1 , with some porting and head work and so forth , you think it would help a little in the power dept? I don't want to go to crazy with it , as I want it to stay dependable too. My motor guy knows what to do , but I just need to figure out how far I want to go.
Mod it , or leave it stock? My gut says " do some motor work ".

I think you know the answers here my friend.
The Shop
My engine builder (TSP) just put a KTM 150 top end on one, after he ported it he got 46.3 RWHP The power curve didn't change much, pulls hard from bottom to top. Stock KTM 150 on his dyno is 42 RWHP. Stock Husky 125 was 39. something
I can post the dyno sheet if you want. I posted it in another thread the other day .
My next bike for sure, just a 144 version.
A friend of mine has the same set up for his KTM.
Oh, and by the way, yea, mod that girl up.
But to answer your original question, MOD IT! Nothing like having a crisp 125!
Just finished up one of my own.
Went with a mild port job, vforce, full bills system, and a properly jetted carb. Much better than stock trim! That new husky will be LEAPS AND BOUNDS better just even off the showroom floor!
The carb is good on this bike, no need to change.
