Here is a photo from an original Suzuki Brochure, the front fender may actually be on correctly?

I switched from a Honda to one of these back in the day, and I still remember the rear suspension being plush, and the bike only weighed something like 213 lbs.

I'm thinking that might be a poorly fitting aftermarket front fender. It's lines don't follow the original brochure at all. My brother had the 82 and it was a blast to ride.

I have one again now. Ride it very occasionally.

81's are cool. Last year air cooled 250, first year floater.
I race my 82 with 84 forks. The bike is a weapon.

I remember the 81 RM 125...It was the bike for 2 years. I had a revolutionary (as in bad) all new 1981 CR125R that could not compete with those RM's. I chased them around in the 125C class all year. When I got the new 1983 CR125R, oh boy was I happy!

I owned the 83 RM250D. Suzuki went to the 43mm fork from the 41mm that year. The front end had less flex.Of course, the 82 had a better hit than the 83. I checked the cylinder part #'s and they were the same. The head had a different # and I found out that it had less compression. I bought the 82 head and got the same power of the 82. Everybody raves about the full floater design and I would agree with how good it was. I was working at Suzuki of California in El Cajon at the time and the shop manager told me that part of the reason for the great design was that the engine had a lot of flywheel weight that helped smooth out the back end. I put an Ohlins shock on the back and was quite happy with it. Great all around bike.

I think the ad stated he painted the plastic tank and “ surprise ” the paint is cracking....the 81”s are rare but this one appeared to not receive the quality restoration it would have deserved.
