I saw an interesting technical paper presentation today at the SAE Powertrains, Fuels, and Lubricants Conference in San Antonio. The research done by the University of Bath in UK studied 6 types of 2 stroke scavenging applications for automotive purpose. They found that the opposed piston two stroke (OP2S) was the most ideal for light/medium duty applications. This type of engine is already very popular in the heavy duty diesel world. Would be cool to see a single cylinder, dual piston/crank motocross bike, though probably not worth the trouble developing. Thought some of you jerkies might be interested...

The concept of the Achates Engine is pretty amazing. Some new technology that hopefully breaks through to the masses.

When we were all on 2 strokes....we were doin' it right!! Till the OEM's brought in the fart boxes and eff'd the rules and everything else up!! Don't dare bring in logic on the mechanical's of how motors work in the real world......has a tendency to ruffle all the feather's who believed everything the OEM's forced down our throats! Well.....most of us anyways.
