Last night KTM released their new 2013 KTM 450SX-F Factory Edition!
From vital home page:
Murrieta, CA – It is with great excitement that KTM announces the release of the second generation KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition motorcycle. The new model has been developed through collaboration with the Red Bull KTM Team and both the US and Austrian based Research & Development Departments. Each special edition model will come with a limited edition sticker that lists a model number for the unit out of the 555 models produced.
The 450 SX-F Factory Edition model was well received by consumers last year after selling out in only a few short months. It received further success after Dungey won the Phoenix Supercross in only the second race of the season and just a few months later when Dungey rode the machine to victory claiming KTM’s first premier class championship in the 450 Motocross Series.
The dedication of the Red Bull KTM Team and R&D department to further push the limits and drive innovation of the new model has led to the significant changes seen on the new 2013 Factory Edition model. In just one year, KTM has already been able to introduce new changes and produce and upgraded model that will again be made available to the public.
While the Factory Edition remains based around the new generation 450cc fuel-injected, single-cam, four-stroke engine that has been tweaked specifically for motocross, the engine cases and clutch cover have been redesigned to minimize weight by removing the kick starter boss to save over 0.5 lbs and further reinforce the effectiveness of KTMs electric start system for racing.
The bike also features a host of chassis upgrades including: orange anodized CNC-machined triple clamps, an orange powder-coated frame, a Salle de Valle seat, an Akrapovic titanium factory silencer, gold Regina racing chain, orange-anodized rear 52T sprocket, black Excel rims, orange radiator and fork protectors, Dunlop GEOMAX MX51 tires, a holeshot device, front brake disc guard and exclusive Red Bull KTM Factory Team blue and orange graphics.
In addition, the bike also has a map switch for easy adjustment of the new ignition curves and an hour meter to help track time between maintenance intervals. Keep your eyes peeled for this bike when it debuts at the opening round of the AMA Supercross Series on January 5, 2013 in Anaheim, CA. Bikes will be available at KTM dealerships in spring of 2013.
We already had 3 calls here at our shop about them!
What do you guys think?

Has to make you smile under the helmet....that's the tough one. I guess that is why I flipped my Yamaha at a big loss, and the Katoom, I may never sell it even though it isn't perfect. The front forks have been worked over by FC, and they still suck. But it sure has soul.
I was a faster rider on my WR450 (woods guy), but my 525 makes me smile more.
My 525 has a tall, soft EE seat. The bike shown looks like it may be the first KTM, mx or otherwise with a real seat!
The header might work, but is kind of boring without a chamber on it, except for a couple factory look welds. Also I would hack those pretty black rims all to hell changing tires.
Don't notice any ugly green Motorex stickers. That's good, the oils price is insane anyway.
Hard to believe how tiny that engine is and how much daylight you can see through the frame.
Reminds me of a Ducati 996 with under seat Ti headers.....it's not just a motorcycle. It would make you get a divorce if it meant you could stick that sucker right in the living room.

FIRST LOOK! 2013-1/2 KTM FACTORY EDITION 450SXF
In a surprise move, KTM has announced the release of the second-generation KTM 450SXF Factory Edition...best known as the "Ryan Dungey Replica." Last year, after signing Ryan Dungey and promising him a brand-new, fuel-injected, high-tech machine for the 2012 Supercross and Nationals, KTM's engineers went into overdrive to produce 400 Factory Editions to meet the AMA Supercross homologation rules. It was assumed that the 2012-1/2 KTM 450SXF-FE would be a one-off production run never to be repeated.
Guess again! For the 2013 Supercross season, KTM has some new engine parts ready for Ryan Dungey to race with, but these parts do not meet the current AMA production rules. KTM's solution? A brand-new bike for Ryan. The new model has been developed through collaboration with the Red Bull KTM Team and the U.S.-based Research & Development Department. Each 2013-1/2 Factory Edition will come with a numbered limited edition sticker on the frame's backbone that lists a number for the unit (the bike will be numbered 1 through 550). There will even be a small run of 150 European 450SXF Factory Editions (Europe didn't get the 2012-1/2 FE, but a surprising number of them were bought in the USA by enterprising racers and shipped to Europe. So, this year KTM will offer a limited run for Europe). "
