2016 KTM 350 sxf linkage problem/question

Just picked one up. As I was going through the bike I found this. The area lines up with the head of the bottom shock bolt so I could see if the bolt worked loose it could cause this to happen. That said it almost looks like it was put there on purpose for the fact that the cut is smooth and tapered somewhat towards the top and bottom of the link.

I'm ordering the new part today. Never seen this before.

Any opinions?

No, that is not how it is supposed to be. The bolt either backed out, or someone used one that was too long if it is on the left side. Don't ride it like that.

Get the aftermarket one from Ride Engineering or Devol.... But don't ride with that one it's toast!

I've seen sprocket bolts backing out and kill a swing arm in pretty much the same way.
But I've never seen a linkage with that kind of damage, good for you that you found it before you got hurt.

Awesome, thanks guys! First KTM so I thought anything could be possible. The bikes in great shape overall but the previous owner was starting to let it go downhill.

The valves are measuring in spec but on the tight side of the scale. I'm getting .10 kinda loose on the intake and .13 fairly snug on the exhaust. Any reason for concern there?

Thats actually a part of ktms weight reduction system we learned about in the other thread

No, I haven't gotten on it yet. Wanted to take it down and grease the bearings, check the valves and all the bolts before taking it out. Glad I did!

Yeah you would think the guy before you would have felt it snag up on it. Once its worn past that point probably wasnt that noticable. But good thing you caught it. I had a linkage snap on a yz426 and i got two broken ankles as a result.

Did you not like it? I was thinking about picking one up to try out for my '18 since its hard to find any feedback on them.

So what you're saying is that it's not only the sprocket bolts that need to be torqued? Peely, did you know about this?
