Had a lot of YZ 250s over the years. Never seen that before.
I’ve never seen something like this happen to a new, stock bike.

But watch out. When They retap the bolt in the crank. The process push the crank over a bit that it cause friction on the bearing and we killed the crank. Really weird.
Just checked the owners manual, says the crank should be inspected every 12.5 hours. That's crazy
Should be able to go at least 40 or 50 hours without opening the motor for the average joe.
Pit Row
Did your dealer tell you that or Yamaha USA?
..
Id look at their service manual and see if that nut is a part of the crank inspection.
Also my service manual for an 05 yz250 says inspect every 5 races not replace every 10 hours. Im 90% sure pulling right side cover is not apart of it.
So it's the dogs that round off or break then? Is it just a poorly designed part or poorly made? Is it third gear drive or driven?
Does it explode and send metal through the rest of the tranny causing more damage?
Just curious cause I'm on the hunt for a decent used one for a decent price...don't think I'll find one though.
People here are still asking $4 k plus for an 06 !
It's a wonder some enterprising company hasn't come up with an after market replacement for these parts...there's a lot of yz 250' s out there and Yamaha is showing no signs of ever ceasing production or ever re designing them either..
