Agree, I like this format for really getting a good feel of how different guys rate the bikes. Only thing that sucked was how bad the Honda did... I put down a deposit on one last week... not happy now !

Great vid. Loved the format. Genuine thoughts and feedback on the bikes straight after riding them and all off the cuff. Hope to see more like this.

That was a good listen. Honda for sure sounds a bit odd. I was interested to hear about the Husky suspension, since that is an unexpected change. Sounds like most of the riders like it.

It is weird how a manufacturer can let something that is so obvious to even inexperienced test riders slip through to production, like fork springs that universally feel soft, or a poorly mapped ECU.

It seems like they must get a great deal on specific rate springs and feel like they have to use them. Same thing with some of the 250fs being sprung for a 240lb rider year after year after year.

LMAO! Everyone of them was laden in disappointment with the Honda yet when I posted on the first day it didn't live up to the hype I got told I was smoking crack.

Good lord, did your chick leave you for a Honda or something? We understood your disappointment the first 100 times you posted about it. It's just a motorcycle, a machine, calm down.

Honda talk is interesting. I was hoping for something like KTM did in 16, a bike that takes it to the next level but it seems like it fell flat.

But like the guys mention, the bike has potential!

Looks like I’ll be throwing a top end in the 17 and riding it for a few more years. That really sucks to hear the new Honda isn’t what everyone thought it would be. It’s like 2013 all over again. Who’s the guy sitting next to Donn?

Cool to see people enjoying the format, it was something our crew came up with a few months ago. Just bench racing like everyone else.

Love the format, this is the type of chatter and bench racing / bench testing that I get to experience and enjoy every-time I put together a Shootout. Props to the Swap crew for capturing it so well.

An ecu remap is relatively inexpensive, and most people send their suspension off for springs/revalve. The Honda sounds like a hot unit.

Donn Maeda has always been the most level headed media guy for me. He is a very humble but extremely knowledgable rider and tester.

I used to be part of his regular Saturday morning Cahuilla riding crew with Eric Sherman, quadsrulezbro and Diablo blanco way back in 04/05, those were some fun days...

Fixed ecu and springs on the Honda sounds like it would put it there with the kawi n yam.. ML? Every one says it's better than the 2020.

For a split second I rethought my down payment to turn it green (yams out, I don't like a wide bitch), but I think I'll stick with my original down payment.

The Honda is revalve/spring rate and ECU remap away from being a really good bike. Its not a total loss. Just going to have to clean up the rough parts. What all the manufactures need to do is follow Yamahas phone mapping. IMO thats probably one of the biggest game changers since EFI. I know KTM has a thing coming out but you have to buy it and have this bar pad to use it.

All the bikes are good for the most part. They all can do more than I can make it do Laughing

Loved the format for this video. I'd say give honda a year and they will get it figured out.

One thing that I don't quite get is they keep saying it is better than last year but they seem to have a long list of complaints, on top of the fact that a lot of people liked last years bike?
It was hard to setup and was busy on rough tracks but also was hard hitting and had a great motor. Even came in third on swaps shootout last year.

So are they just sugar coating or is the new one still better despite the long list of complaints? Maybe they were referring to the chassis or were just hype on it like many of us so the issues sound worse than they are.

My take is that the bike is going to be really good, but the poor tune and a miss on the suspension settings for the first year just are impossible to ignore. I love Honda, but a shitty tune in the ecu is pretty unacceptable. Suspension...eh I always get my stuff revalved anyways and the showa stuff is really damn good when set up right so I could live with that. If the tune is as bad as they describe, then they just can't ignore it and for sure it's going to be a focal point. I think what they're saying is that the platform is better but Honda missed on a few items that, let's face it, are critical to how enjoyable the bike is.

I mean the last generation was a fun bike, but having to remove gas tank bolts and exhaust bolts to help soften the feel of the chassis...that's easy but still a bit ridiculous. Looking forward to seeing how the new bike is when it's sorted out.

I agree, but a dealer could reflash the ECU (hopefully for free) and swap springs for 50-60 bucks.

Loved this format, best, most watchable shootout I’ve ever seen and actually gave me a good idea. Just hoping they do the same for the 250f’s but if they follow suit looks like it’s going to be blu cru for me next year.

I liked Swap talking about how he liked the Kawi in part because it's what his brother used to ride. Hard to totally ignore nostalgia / emotions from bike decisions.

I watched the follow-up video this morning, with the riding. Some interesting results. I was thinking maybe the Husky would jump up the standings with the suspension change. It didn't seem to make much of a difference, as they didn't really talk about it much and it ranked behind the KTM still. As far as the Honda, maybe it'll just take some tweaks to get it right. Either way, the 2nd video was good also.

I’m a bit surprised to see the kawi won the shootout. It didn’t win many in 19, unchanged for 20, and a new clutch for 21.

Take a bike that didn’t win many shootouts in 19 and the only change Is a clutch in 2 years and now it wins?
