250 v 450 Pricing

So, could be a dumb question but I'm going to ask anyways. Other than its obviously a bigger motor, does it really cost that much more to manufacture a 450 vs a 250? Where is the couple extra g's coming from for a 450?

Bigger motor means bigger tooling for each part and more raw material. Also its the premium model in the line with more features(typically) thus you pay more.

Not that it matters, but, the 250 ends up costing more, with motor rebuilds and mods to make it faster. In time...

No it shouldn’t cost anything more.
These days the 250’s are more developed than the 450’s

Arguably - the crank,piston, valves would cost bit more....

If I guessed at their level I would think under 100 dollars difference - realistically 20-40??

But like anything else it's "premium" bike for that bit extra

But one could argue if the sales volume of 450s is greater than 250s piece part cost could be cheaper or on the same level.

It's all down to what the market will bear. There is not much to it as far as manufacturing costs.

That’s all I was wondering, iis that the manufacturing costs can’t be that much more. I get that we as consumers will pay more for a bigger bike, but the profit margins have to greater on the bigger bikes.
