I've been entertaining the idea of getting a 250f to toss around the track and race other classes. Mainly considering a Yami, Zook or Kawi as the CRFs and KTM frames just feel way too narrow.

Already have a 2016 yz450, so this would be a second bike.

Doesn't have to be a new model, looking at anything 2014+.

I'm 6'6", 230lbs. without gear (I know, I know... ).

Opinions?

Honestly depends on your skill level. If your not racing a very competitive class you will be fine. But front B class and up I think you will struggle. The 14+ yz 250fs are great bikes however. Try one if you can!

Out of your choices id go with a yamaha or kawi. But because you already have a yz450, go with a yz250f. Wont be such a drastic change

At your height/weight I'm sure you already know you're gonna need bar risers and new fork/shock springs if you plan on pushing it.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Wanted some opinion before I pulled the trigger.

I'm seeing a lot of yzf's for sale that look fresh so may as well go with that. Plus I hear amazing things about the motor.

Thanks, guys

I’d like to clarify that this is based on the weight you said. My brother is 200lbs and found that a 250f wasn’t enough. As for height, Yamaha’s have always been great for tall riders. Should have re-read the title Silly

I weigh between 210-220 throughout the year and my yz250f was not holding me back, at all. My rmz250, could not carry me like the yz. At 230, i doubt you will have any issues with the power from the yamaha
