In 10 days time the worldchampionship should take off again after a break of no less than twenty-two weeks since the second round at Valkenswaard.

And I say "should", as a couple of days ago Latvian member of parliament Sandis Riekstiņš sent a tweet into the world that leaves little to the imagination. He said that he does not support the three MXGP races in Ķegums because the limitations regarding the organization are still unclear. However, Infront Moto Racing has developed a protocol and there is intensive contact with the local government in Latvia.

The tweet:

Translation:
Do I support the organisation of the three stages of MXGP in LV with the still unclear organisational constraints? No, I do not! We carry over the license fee to next year and organise a normal MXGP stage with the participation of Pauls Jonass!

I'm not sure what to think of this. Does he want to postpone it because of the pandemic, or because of the injuries of their star rider Jonass? Infront still offers tickets for the event, so I consider it's still a go. The fans will not be able to access the paddock area, in order to preserve the safety of all the teams and riders as well as the local fans. Though they will be able to enjoy the racing from the designated public area.

To be continued, I guess.

Sounds more like someones personal opinion than a big push to cancel the event.

Matias Vesterinen isn’t actually a wild card for MX2, he’s apparently gonna race the rest of the season. He rides for the same team as Larranaga, and since Larranaga is out with the vertebra injury the team decided to move Vesterinen up from EMX to MX2.

On another note, excited to see a bunch of Finns showing up for EMX Open. Savaste and Sihvonen should be fast, but the other 3 guys aren’t any slouches either. Matikainen and Silander are the reigning Finnish champions in MX1 and MX2, and Rannikko might ring some bells for some people in Belgium since he lived and raced over there for a couple of years.

Would you lineup to race EMX250? So many guys will not make it and then you have MXGP fly away races where you can just line up and get lapped 5 times.. Lets hope this Covid thing will make MXGP more racing less fly away bs.

What a shame for Jonass. 3 home rounds in a row and he's out injured

Pilots are allowed to travel to Latvia through a protocol without having to undergo a two week-quarantine measure. They must submit two negative COVID-19 tests. One must be done three days before arrival and one the day after arrival (within 24 hours). In addition to the MXGP motocross competition, the World Rallycross Championship, the European Beach Volleyball Championship and the Liepaja International Rally are also free from the quarantine measure. This rule also applies to the team members of the MXGP pilots.

And Brian has been training in the sand, so...

Hoping this happens, cool track and it would be awesome to see some actual motocross racing. Any word on if there is still much risk that it is canceled or rescheduled at this late date? Or is this thing going to run?

I was hoping they’d run it say clockwise this weekend, counterclockwise mid week & then clockwise again for the weekend after. Doubt it’ll take much to reface the jumps.

Sadly not. As much as I'd like that to happen as well. Concern around the bigger jumps I believe as either the take off or landing would be really soft sand that may not be very safe. Pretty sure they'll rework some of the obstacles though.

If there will be any changes at all, I guess it will be between the midweek and second Sunday. Don't forget the EMX-classes race a day before the main classes, so between the first and second GP there's only Monday to work on the track. Between the second and third one they have Thursday and Friday.

In regards to covid i must say i'm a bit surprised they also run the EMX classes. Basically double the nr. of people in the paddock for a week.

That’s makes sense. Can’t wait for MXGP to start again plus there’s Moto GP, WSB & BSB this weekend as well. I’ve got plenty to watch Wink
