I haven't seen anything recent on here. I know there's an old thread with some good info in it but I'm hoping someone somewhere has some new info. A little info, I ride a 2015 KTM 300XC. I ride harescrambles and extreme Enduro. I'm an A level rider.

Who is the best for fixing the WP 4CS? The suspension is so bad that I literally hate riding. I don't want to have $2000 into suspension. If I were to put that kind of money into it I would just sell mine and buy a 2018 KTM 300.

Any suggestions on companies who can fix the issues with 4CS at a reasonable price? If so, what seems to be the common price point?

Again, I don't want to get into discussions about buying different forks for $2000+ so please let's leave that stuff out (knowing vital that won't happen though.)

Thanks guys.

I sent mine to Enzo. It works fine.

I've read glowing reviews for Kreft when it comes to an outdoor fix and revalve. They are just a little more expensive.

They really should be recalled. Its sad that the stock suspension on my 03 rm250 is better then my 4cs. I had ty davis do mine. They work a lot better now but still arnt great. Atleast iam not smacking the lugs on every jump face. I also heard good things about kreft and have rode one that had the kyb conversion. But ether way just expect to atleast pay $1500. They make better baseball bats then forks.

Kreft does a good job as well as Smart Performance.

Corey Smith @ Pro-tune suspension in wellston ohio can make them pretty good, for a reasonable price, about $300, but check with him to be sure. Top level fix is Dal Soggio sphere inserts, Corey can also set you up with them.

Kreft will be $600 to $1000 and Smart Performance varies on what kits you want and whether you can do the work yourself or pay him or another suspension guy to install. SPI parts would be around $400.

I just picked up a 15 300xc last week. Rode it for 10 mins and then pulled the suspension off to remedy it.

This is what I am going to try: https://slavensracing.com/shop/piston-upgrade-kit-wp-4cs-wp-xplor-forks…
I've spoke to a fwe riders who say it fixed the issues they had with the forks. Unless I find a decent set of open chambered forks on ebay before then. I've still got about 4 months of frozen ground before riding season, so I'm in no hurry

You don't want to hear about replacing the forks for $2000 +, but I replaced the forks on a 2016 250 sx with new take off AER forks off of Ebay for 1300. When I sell the bike I can either use the forks on another bike or sell them. I'd ridden bikes with AER forks before and knew I liked them, so it seemed like a safer bet than spending money on a revalve that I may or may not like.

Same with me. I live in North Central PA, so I could have 5 months of frozen ground Sick

I'll have to read up on those a little more. I don't mind buying a kit such as that, I just get a little swayed because I feel as though the professionals know how to make them good.

Best fix for the 4CS is to swap out for KYB SSS internals. I think TBT Racing specializes in this, try them.

AER still might need some work so I wouldn't recommend swapping out with that unless they've already been worked on.

Otherwise the 4CS have been out long enough that a good reputable local tuner should have a fix that works well. Local is better so you can go back for adjustments to get it to your liking. Well known companies should all have a good system too- Slavens, Kreft, MX Tech are probably the best.

Don't listen to me though, I've never owned a set of 4CS forks.

I was going to suggest that same thing.

There was a magazine project bike, either Dirt Bike or maybe Dirt Rider from a few years ago. It was a KTM XC build and they raved about the swap to KYB SSS that TBT did. Apparently the internals match up pretty well and I don't think its a big cost if I remember correctly?

DIY or a suspension guy can install in 2-2.5 hours. Comes with a video. Turns the fork back to a conventional style.

Do you have personal experience with this kit? I want soft forks for trail riding. Not sure if I should pony up the cash for this or just wait til some decent OC forks pop up on ebay

I spent a lot of time and money on those forks on my 16 TC250 to get them tolerable, only thing that worked was getting rid of that bike and buying a YZ.

I don't understand why so many people hate them. Yes, I got them revalved, but that's normal with any bike I've ever owned. They weren't even bad before the revalve.

What type of riding do you do? Try it at Glen Helen, I'd have to run it full soft to get it to settle in breaking bumps coming in to corners. Then over jump or come up short on any decent size jump and you're blowing out your wrists and bottoming. Stiffen it up and it was like a jackhammer.

Bought a YZ and 1st time out was more comfortable than I was ever able to get on the 4CS.

I don't understand how anyone can possibly like them. They throw me everywhere. I hit the smallest of breaking bumps and it's a rough ride. I had a 2013 yz250 before and I can't even begin to explain how much I miss the suspension on that bike. Honestly, I don't understand how KTM was even comfortable with putting those turds on their bikes and releasing them

I ride only MX. Never bottomed them nor had that square edge problem people complain about. I run my clickers at 12/15.

FWIW, I did move the forks down in the triple clamps per Enzo's advice. Move them to where the black part of the top of the fork is flush with the top of the triple clamp.

I had this kit on my 13 Husaberg TE250. The importer is CSR. They helped me dial the compression shim stack in a bit for trail riding. Important to be a bit on the soft range for the fork springs. I ran the oil level on the low side also. But at 57, not pushing the bike the way I did at 37.

I haven't asked. I guess I never really thought of asking them, although they are about 2.5 hours from me. I no longer live in State college, I just never changed my info on here from 5 or so years ago. But I'm sure they would be a great start.

If you're in PA you should without a doubt call Jeff at MPR Race Tech. He's done a ridiculous amount of these setups and works very closely with us at Race Tech in California. You won't find a guy more dedicated to making sure you are 100% happy with your bike. He goes to many offroad and moto events as well.

Call Jeff - tell him Chris from Race Tech sent you and I guarantee you he will give you the best product and service you can find. All his contact info is on this page:
