OK everyone, thanks to COVID19, I finally ran out of excuses, quit procrastinating and digitized some old video footage. This is Sandhill Ranch in Brentwood California in all of its 1989 Golden State Narional motocross glory.

I must add a disclaimer though: I was just a prepubescent kid in 1989 and I was terrible with a camera. So the footage....admittedly...sucks. But if you are patient, you'll spot some national stars like Ward and Antunez, as well as some local stars like Chris Neal. Maybe others too!
Also, I'm Polish so when my dad and I are talking in the background, you probably won't understand WTF we are saying.

I hope this brings back some fond memories....as far as I know this is the only old-school footage from Sandhill on the net right now...

Sounds like classic sandhill ranch. The smell of premix and the sound of 125s in the fog,,, gnarly rough offcambers, ,,

I was there that day too. Donnie Schmidt was there on a honda 125 and 250 with his own $. Gave Ward a run for his money in the 250 pro class till he almost swapped out on an uphill at speed! Good times.

Just came upon this thread. Since Sandhill was my "home track", it's nice to hear a SoCal guy recognize what a great place it was. I grew up about a half hour away from there and raced there many times from '75 through '81. One memory to share... I think it was around '78, and Dick Man shows up in a cool old pickup truck with a Yamaha TT500. Won both the Open Expert and Vet Expert classes. The dude must have been at least 50 then, was faster than hell on that tank of a bike. Great memories also of BobbyM blowing everybody away, many times. And... there was a guy that was always there, think his name was Machado, owned the Vet class. It was such a great place, but Tom Anderson had a bad habit of watering the start straight and first turn, usually just before my moto. It would be slicker than an oily garage floor and the pile ups would typically include me and at least 10 other novice sguids. Probably great entertainment for the fast guys to watch... Thanks for the great video!

I did all mine myself with a stand alone Panasonic dvd recorder, but I hear that they don't really make/sell dvd recorders anymore for some reason. I've heard that the preferred method to store old video is on hard drives these days. You can take 'em to a shop and have them done, but it can be costly if you have a lot.
