Good nights racing last night, Brayton was again a class above along with Metty. Not a super technical track and very short lap times but some good racing. The concerning factor is the depth of the sport with still 3 spots available on the gate for the nights triple race format, big shout out to Lawson Bopping who ended up 6th or 7th overall after not racing for nearly 2 years on a basically stock bike

No but I heard that he hyper extended his knee so might need scans to see if any further damage but would hope he is good to go as his form in SX this year has been really impressive

One of the missing spots would have been filled by Nathan Crawford if it wasn't for his accident last weekend.

Is it any wonder that people aren't lining up to race though? Potentially cripple yourself for this $100 superpole cheque. You make more working a half day at kmart.

The 250 races were epic,I would have thought Jacob Hayes would be putting it to this field, I mean he was second on the night but imo didn't look nearly as impressive as Jay Wilson and some of the others

yeah and it looks a lot worse when only 9 or 10 people are lining up on the gate for the heats

Yeah the 250s were awesome battles, yeah nato Crawford would have filled 1 spot but the heats were only 9 and 10 riders each unlike the 250 who had almost 20 each heat.

I try to be positive about SX in Australia but they keep making it so hard to be that way....that big football stadium yet so so much green grass! 30 second lap times...so sad!

numbers were up this round in most classes, the junior classes had been pretty empty at the 1st rounds,

still not getting enough 450's tho,

Was crowd at capacity ...no , racing was tight ,36 laps over 3 motos....
If ya had bigger track would of meant Brayton just flog everyone by 10plus seconds....bigger track would open up more stadium seats that would not be filled by spectators...

Neither of us are going to argue that we need more riders on the gate right? I am good friends of a privateer that has done quite well so far in the 3 races in the 450's. His reaction after last night....It sucks that you have to spend so much money. on entry fees and then all the money to drive there and all the money on everything else just to race there and they give you a 30 second track to race on!
Yes he is a privateer, yes he knows what he is in for money wise before he signs up, yes nobody is forcing him to do it, but, there are only very limited fully supported rides and it's the privateers that fill up all those empty gates. So making it more appealing for the privateers to spend their hard earned cash would be to give them a decent track don't you think?

Good to hear Boppo is back on track. Good kid that's been struggling with fatigue issues that aren't attributed to lack of training

Our most financially successful series that produced our best credentialed supercross riders to date was race on tennis court sized tracks. Close tight racing, taught those guys racing skills that transferred over to compete with the best in the world. I'm talking, Reed, Byrne, McFarlane, Anderson, Metcalfe. We are almost 10 years removed from trying to run stadium sized tracks, and we haven't produced anybody close to those guys ability, and no promoter has come close to spokes promotions in terms of success.

I'm sure privateers would love 50 second lap times, but the promoter will go broke trying to do that. Also if we go back to the arena sized tracks then an 8-10 man gate is all we need, no giant gaps in the start line, or obvious gaps in ability.

Just my thoughts
