I recall seeing it maybe in MXA, but never heard details or a ride report.

Are the Yamaha SSS forks better than the WP Cone Valves? How much less is the complete conversion using new parts than buying WP Cone Valves?

I see new 2014-15 YZF forks on eBay regularly for $7-900.

You need to know the offset of the axle lugs

That KTM above are KYB KTM components. Can be bought.

There are a couple dudes on TT/KTMtalk that have done the SSS KTM Conversion.

Basically–custom clamps or shim bottom and machine top.

New spacers machined for wheel.

And either sacrifice your brembos for Nissan front end OR make a special bracket to offset and angle your caliper.

Everyone who has done it is pretty happy. You'd probably be in for 1500 bucks? 700-900 forks. Machining some spacers and a bracket or buy Yamaha stuff. Clamps too if you do that.

The forks/clamps in the picture are a far cry more than $1500. Probably closer to $5,000. I bet they are awesome.

The best bang for the buck is to fit SSS cartridges in the KTM fork. The CC4860 fork is easiest, 4CS forks would need the 4860 axle lugs. I paid $650 for the conversion.

Yes you can get the SSS cartridge to fit in the WP forks just takes a little bit of machining. I was going try this only just too see how it worked i had an awesome setup in my 14 350. I was running jbi pro perch in forks and mxtech check valve in shock, that was better then my revalved SSS on my 15 yz250f I'm running now.

Was talking about 2nd hand SSS forks...

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that those in the picture above are PSF1 or 2s also

Isn't that bike from a team running in the All japan National series? The only team running a non Japanese brand in the series, also the first time I've seen a pro team running a Yoshi pipe on a KTM

Could you just put the 4cs lugs on the fork tubes instead of machining new parts and sacrificing the brembo brakes?

I haven't done it obviously so only relaying from what was posted in KTM talk from memory–BUT... I'm pretty sure one guy said he wasted a set of lugs trying to swap em out and another reported success...

The spacers for the wheel aren't complicated and I think one dude was happy with the nissans and a 270mm rotor. I'm pretty sure another just went Yamaha wheel also. I think here actually too, someone made a bracket for the Brembo caliper to fit up to the SSS lug points.

My buddy did a partial.conversion, he used the internals from the kyb, but I think bottoming cones also need to be installed in the wp lower legs.

There was even a guy selling the kit to do it with all new parts for a reasonable price.

I put a set of KYB A-kits on a 2014 250 SX...incredible! I went with x-trig triple clamps...purpose made for the conversion. Only have used the YZ front wheel and brake though. Haven't got to do the wheel conversion. Suffers in the braking department, but those forks are oh so smooth.

Wondered where you got this done. Was it Tim Zont? I am not far from you. Would love to get more info. Thanks

CadPro18 I have 4cs and want to do the conversion. Where did you have yours done so cheap?

Call Corey Smith at ProTune Suspension in Ohio. He built me a set of KYB forks for my KTM. They bolt right on and use the KTM brakes and wheels.

Corey @ Pro Tune, that price was 4 years ago. The price was for like-new cartridges. When I moved the cartridges to the next bike with 4CS I chose to buy AER lugs.

WDSCR I called him about the kyb conversion said it was about 1600$. He said he could do the Mx tech luck carts for like 900. I have a Yamaha 450 and I love the forks but Ive heard of people with the KYBs putting these carts in their forks.. Anyways how much was yours and when did you have it done if you dont mind me asking?

I had The Ride Shop in Phoenix convert my AER 48 to KYB SSS cartridge internals. It is the best setup since the tubes on the WP forks are set up to work with steel frames on KTMs and you keep the Brembos. It was less than 2k including buying the 4cs lugs and brand new KYB cartridges. The fork works on everything from moto to endurocross and Hard Enduro and I have run the same settings on both linkage and PDS bikes.

@LiquidSamurai I had my set built this past winter. He is one of my sponsors so my pricing isn't the same. He does great work and built mine up with Black outer tubes and Black Billet lugs.

I have never used any MX Tech parts. Corey has always done great without adding anything additional such as that.

I have since updated the decals to ProTune KYB decals instead of the WP stickers.

I think you can kind of see the lugs and the KYB etching in this photo.
