Had my hardest crash today, hit some rutted mud before a jump wrong 3rd gear. Mud pulled me to the side of the jump, I knew I still would land on the track so I jumped anyways. Come over the jump and hit a drainage ditch that had ate into the jump with the front tire. Bike stopped I kept going. Broke the mouth piece in my helmet, scratched under the visor, broke my goggles. I got a bloody nose, black eye, lump above my eye, and very sore wrist. No concusion, no knock out. Tumbled about 4 times off the bike.
Now that cross bar is bent but the bars aren't. I can see marks where it moved the crossbar mount on the bars. These renthal bars are some strong pieces. Only time I can remember seeing a pair twisted is when James Stewart crashed through the whoops on the Suzuki. I even remember seeing the bar mount break on a factory Honda and not the bars.
Going to retire the bars and helmet. No damage to the helmet liner but it was a big hit second one I've had in it. Feel like I got off easy.

Welcome to the bent bars club. The only more lucrative membership is the bent triple clamps club.

I bent a pair similar to above picture in a big loop out crash. Almost 90° down on the clutch side handle. Broke the sheot out of my tailbone too. Good times

I'd just pull that crossbar off and tap it straight again. Its very soft and easy to bend.

Zesiger........buddy , make sure to look extremely close around the areas where the crossbar mounts to the bar itself. Use a magnifying glass and remove the crossbar if you have to. Sometimes the damage isn't all that easy to see , and can snap the bars on the next high impact type landing. Damage can easily be hidden. Just like the helmet ( which seems fine I guess )......they both did their job on an impact.......question is , will they be able to do that again? Fwiw.....glad you got way with just having some bumps and bruises!

Why not? They were made and tested to take that kind of abuse correct?

I would take the bars off, take the cross bar off, clamp the bars to a flat surface like they are mounted on the bike, also front of the bar flat so you can pull some measurements in those positions and see what you got. I would use a decent metal ruler that has 32nds or millimeters (6in Caliper would work good too).

If they check out good, I'm sure one of us have a cross bar on a tweaked set you can have. If your face bent the cross bar and it not bending it from flex, you probably be find to replace and keep rolling.

I'm replacing the bars, I've had them 2 years and they have taken some good digs without bending. Ive got my money's worth out of them

Good decision man , and again , glad you're ok. I myself have been off the bikes since July. Got in a bad wreck at the big Vet race at washougal , which wasted my right hand. ( Tendon , ligament , muscle damage , along with bruising everything on my right side ). I'm shooting for coming back in March if my hand will let me.

They were designed to be replaced as a result of major crashes.

I dunno man, the bars look bent too. Throttle side especially.

Glad your brain is okay! Looks like you hit your noggin pretty good. Heal up quick. 👍🏻

I’ve bent 2 Twinwall 999.
After that i switched to the cheaper 22mm K971.
I may try Fatbars in the future.

Don't just assume because you weren't knocked out, that you've not been concussed.

Seriously - be careful. Your scone has taken quite a hit, to have such marks on your face and forehead. They are, after all, part of your head.

One of my more severe concussions came from a prang, with the same sort of damage to my helmet, and my face and forehead, as your picture shows.

So, to repeat, be careful about your 'head health', you've taken quite a hit.

Crashed on the first lap a couple of years ago, had to ride 25 minutes with these barsLaughing
Also bent my crossbar in a startcrash in 2017, just straightened it and raced those bars the entire season without any issues

Are they repairable? The out rigger looks like it pops in a groove, but idk where I would get that piece. My plan was to save the lense and find another set. The lense is fine. I have about 20 pairs of 100% but I do love these airbrakes.

Going to see the doctor tomorrow. Was planning on taking off time to rebuild bike anyways. So I'll take the time to rest.

With that bruising, I would be very suspicious of a fracture.

You can try, you can have the lens I really just want it for the strap and the foam. If you take the lens out I’ll take them. Can text me at+15089713730
